Tori and Miles first met at Baylor University in their law school orientation, which later led to a series of dates that never ended. On Valentine’s Day in 2020, on a trip to a law school competition, Tori was walking the bustling streets of New York City with her classmates. Her flight was scheduled for later that day back to Waco, where Miles was waiting. However, her classmates and family had another plan in mind for her. Tori mindlessly followed the group of students on the way to a brunch spot which happened to be tucked near a stunning view of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline, which lead to the perfect picture opportunity for the group. “Once I started going down the stairs, I saw Miles. I immediately started crying happy tears because I knew what would happen. He proposed down by the river with a gorgeous backdrop, and both of our families were there to see it,” says Tori. It all started at Baylor University in a video-journalism class when Michaela and Adam were partners for a group project, which turned out to be a match made in heaven. As they were looking at wedding venues, Adam proposed, right down the hall from where their wedding would take place. “I was greeted by a beautiful display of florals, candles and pictures from throughout our relationship…Then, finally, he got down on one knee and read our favorite Bible verse aloud before asking me to marry him!” says Michaela.

“Weston proposed in Brooklyn overlooking the water with the NYC skyline in the background,” remembers bride Liles. “It was absolutely breathtaking.” After finding inspiration within the pages of Weddings in Houston magazine, Liles planned a wedding that was both a “fun and memorable” affair with a “romantic” theme. “Our venue was beautiful without any decor, but I knew I wanted to dress it up in a big way for our day,” says the bride, who describes a ballroom filled with greenery and colorful florals in a stunning palette of mauve, blush, and creams.
The celebration included personal touches such as a live painter, custom cocktail napkins to include their pets, with cute sayings: “Raise the woof,” “Guard your drink,” “Purr me another,” and “Hightail it to the dance floor” and Weston playing “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John with the band on stage. The bride adds, “We also incorporated some very non-traditional aspects—I had a Bridesman, and Weston had a Best Woman.” Photographer Amy Maddox expertly captured the celebration through her light and airy photography style. “Everyone has asked us what our favorite part about our wedding was, but truly the whole day was just the best day ever. All of it coming together the way I’d very thoughtfully planned was so awesome!”
