Houston Heights Backyard Wedding Ceremony by Ama by Aisha Photography & Cinema

For their fall wedding, Houstonians Katheryne and Casey knew they wanted “a small, intimate ceremony so that we could have a meaningful event that focused on our family, and so our four dogs could participate,” the bride says. What better spot, then, for their vows, than the autumn-leaf-and-rose-petal-strewn backyard of their Houston Heights home? Shot by Aisha Khan of Ama by Aisha Photography & Cinema (who just happened to be our AWESOME official show photographer at the Jan. 26 I Do! Bridal Soiree at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston), the couple’s nuptials are the very picture of relaxed revelry and vintage-touched fun. We couldn’t be happier to share their special day, and lovely pix!

Sweet Spring, Texas, June Wedding by Ama Photography & Cinema

Selling cell phones might not be the world’s most glamorous job, but it can pay off—with a husband, for instance! It was on the floor of a Sprint retail store where Gesselle met her beloved John, the man she’d eventually marry in a lovely June outdoor ceremony followed by a fun-filled dining-and-dancing reception where burlap, orchids and candlelight played against one another for a perfect rustic-elegant ambiance. Big thanks to Aisha Khan of Ama Photography & Cinema for the lovely photos, and our heartfelt best wishes to the newlyweds!

Las Vegas Wedding with Houstonian Bride, English Groom and French Proposal, by Ama Photography & Cinema

Houston-raised Eva met Leeds, U.K.-based Phil at a fish fry in the Bahamas, where she was on vacation and he was on a contract diving project. And that’s just the beginning of their international love story. While rock climbing together in southern France’s Pyrenees Mountains, Phil surprised Eva with a Champagne picnic—and a Jimi-Hendrix-accompanied proposal. Not long after, the pair joined 28 friends and close family members in Las Vegas, where they said their lifelong vows—the bride’s daughter escorting her down the aisle, much to everyone’s joy—and celebrated in intimate style at the retro-chic Barrymore. Evocative photos from Ama Photography & Cinema speak to the warmth and elegance of the occasion—one that will be forever cherished by Eva and Phil. Cheers!

Sophisticated City-Chic Engagement Shoot by Ama Photography & Cinema

“Having met in Europe on independent vacations, our relationship has always been long distance, focused on traveling to be together,” says bride-to-be Olga, who will marry Brian next June. “We got engaged in Mexico and felt like we never had any pictures commemorating our time in Houston, where Brian is from and where we now live. Our focus was finding locations that we felt were true to Houston.” With help from photographer Aisha Khan of Ama Photography & Cinema, the pair found inspiration in oak-lined North and South Boulevards, and the verdant beauty of Hermann Park. For the second part of their shoot, Olga opted to wear a white tuxedo jacket to complement Brian’s traditional tux. Though you’d never know it, neither of these two had ever actually had professional photographs taken before, and were both very nervous. “However I think dressing up and using props such as the vintage chair helped us to be more in character. We could have never imagined such fantastic photos, all credited to the vision of our extremely talented photographer!” Kudos to Khan, and our sincere thanks to Olga and Brian for sharing their beautiful photos with all of us…and all of you.
