Brian had just moved from Denver to Austin to join his family’s business, and Rachel was in her second year of an OB/Gyn residency in Austin, when they met on a dating app.
A few days of chat led to a Happy Hour beer at a local watering hole…and hours of conversation. And just like that, the pair fell in love. Following their Wimberley engagement on a wine-tasting weekend, the pair set out to plan a wedding that would express their love of travel and their passion for adventure. But it was a bittersweet journey. During the couple’s engagement, Rachel’s father passed, tragically, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. The pair turned their attention toward making their wedding an occasion “to celebrate life, and all its vibrancy,” in his honor. Their vision for their Texas spring wedding started with the perfect venue: The Terrace Club in Dripping Springs, set against a backdrop of rolling Hill Country landscape. To bring the vibrancy they sought to their already beautiful Hill Country wedding venue, they chose a colorful wedding palette of soft pink and peach tones amped up by pops of bright pink, cobalt blue and sage green. “As we planned our wedding day, we focused on a hosting a fun, beautiful, joyful spring weekend celebrating love in the company of our favorite people,” Rachel recounts. “We had envisioned a sunset ceremony overlooking the Texas Hill Country that we call home.” But Mother Nature had other plans: “Unfortunately, as can happen in Texas, a week full of gorgeous days led up to a torrential downpour on our wedding day.” But the easygoing, adventure-loving couple didn’t panic. Instead, they relied on the amazing staff of The Terrace Club, and their team of vendors, to do what they’re best at: Make wedding dreams come true, whatever it takes. “In the end, we were able to snap a few photos in the damp grass with our wedding party and the beer burros, and the cloudy day actually gave the venue a warm, homey feel. It was an incredible party! We tore up the dance floor, laughed until we cried with friends, and ended the night with breakfast taquitos from Whataburger,” Rachel says. “The day couldn’t have been more filled with joy and love!” As for us, we’re filled with joy and love just looking at the Hill Country wedding celebration this awesome Texas twosome created.
