Sara Witz and Anthony Gair had a storybook wedding on April 17th, 2021 after a casual introduction by a mutual friend at a concert led to a lifelong partnership. After Anthony pulled off an elaborate surprise engagement, the wedding planning began.
The couple chose the historic and stunning Corinthian-Houston for their wedding and reception. The majestic Corinthian columns, gorgeous marble floors and staircase, and the picturesque Grand Hall was the perfect venue for Sara and Anthony’s vision.
When Devin first noticed Rachel, she was already wearing a white dress and veil. At the time, the pair were just 13 years old, but even still, Devin knew he’d marry that girl someday. And that’s exactly what he did! While Devin and Rachel dated for a few months, about a year later, they broke up because of the long-distance. But, in typical millennial fashion, Devin and Rachel connected through social media again in 2017. “One DM on Instagram, and less than a year later, we were engaged!” said Rachel.
The proposal was nothing short of magical. The couple was on a trip to the US Virgin Islands when Devin had Rachel follow a fun scavenger hunt, hop on a boat, and venture to a private island. With the whole beach to themselves, Devin popped the question, and Rachel happily said yes! With such a thoughtful, intimate engagement, it only fits that their wedding was the same. From the moment Emma and Dylan first met, they knew they’d found someone special in each other. “I love how perfectly our personalities complement each other, and her ability to light up any room,” explained Dylan. Their proposal at the breathtaking Biltmore Estate in North Carolina was just as beautiful as their elegant blush wedding back home in Houston at the Royal Oaks Country Club.
Jennifer and Andrew met in paradise while on an excursion during a company trip in Mexico. Andrew asked Jennifer to share a locker, and the rest is history. In March 2019, Andrew set up a surprise engagement on the sandy beaches of Kauai, Hawaii. “He made reservations for dinner at the Sheraton, but before dinner, we were walking on the beach. He had hired a photographer who was posing as a random beach go-er. They offered to take our photo, and after a couple of shots, I moved positions, and when I turned around, he was down on one knee,” Jennifer remembers.
March 20, 2021, was a wedding day to remember for Audrey and the Pfau family. Audrey and her parents, both wed in the same ballroom, just 30 years apart. Audrey’s beautiful mom Laila was married in Houston’s historic Warwick Hotel– what is now Hotel Zaza to Audrey’s dad, and she was thrilled to see her daughter marry the love of her life Benjamin, there as well— like mother, like daughter.
Benjamin proposed to Audrey on Thanksgiving 2019 in front of the Statue of Liberty in New York City. Recalls the bride, “It was breathtaking and he planned for my entire family to be there. It was the most incredible and memorable Thanksgiving!”
Audrey and Benjamin tied the knot amidst 100 of their dearest ones in a ceremony enveloped in love. The ceremony decor was both elegant and romantic, with lush white florals adding to the charm of their spring wedding. The celebration continued at Hotel Zaza with a spectacular reception that included a belly dance performance, a macaroni and cheese bar, and a stunning 4-tier almond cake with a decadent dulce de leche filling by Susie’s Cakes.
After much laughter, dancing and speeches, it was time for Audrey and Benjamin’s send-off. Audrey, now wearing an outfit that included pieces from her mother’s 1991 wedding gown, stepped into a classic car with Benjamin as they rode into their happily-ever-after.
Congratulations to Audrey and Benjamin, and special congratulations to the mother of the bride–Laila, as we commemorate all the Weddings in Houston mothers who make their children’s weddings so much more meaningful.
