Blush, Champagne & Gray Wedding by J. Cogliandro Photography

It was fate when Maggie and Cory met by chance at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck back in 2012. They saw each other from across the room and instantly connected. A few days later Cory took Maggie out on a date and just knew this was it. After going on many picnic dates at Hermann Park, she had no idea that one day he was going to propose there as well. “I was not surprised when he picked me up with a bottle of wine and asked if I wanted to go to the park. After sitting by the reflecting pool, we visited the tree that we had our first picnic under. Cory told me this was the very spot that he fell in love with me,” recounts Maggie. He got down on one knee and you can guess what happened next. The pair was so inspired after their trip to Paris during Christmas, that they decided to have a French-themed celebration with heavy influence from their family history. Maggie incorporated her grandmother’s rosary in her bouquet and wore her godmother’s diamond bracelet, which beautifully accessorized her fit-and-flare Rivini gown from Mia Bridal Couture. “The church pews were lined with fresh flowers in handmade cones that were made from my grandmother’s sheet music collection when she was a piano teacher,” adds Maggie. We couldn’t be happier for these lovebirds and can’t wait for you to swoon over the photos from J. Cogliandro Photography. Feeling inspired? Go ahead and pin some photos and start planning your fabulous Houston wedding!

Rivini Spring 2016 at Mia Bridal Couture Aug. 27-29

Rivini Spring 2016 at Mia Bridal Couture Aug. 27-29

With her passion for classic elegance and her focus on traditional silhouettes and simple sophistication, Rivini designer Rita Vinieris is not one for wedding dresses that bare it all, or bring to mind Vegas showgirls. Instead, Rivini’s new Spring 2016 collection takes its inspiration from the English landscape artist J. M. W. Turner, whose paintings are filled with natural light, radiant clouds and dreamy reflections. For Vinieris, that means bridal gowns with transparent layers that suggest a glimpse of the bride’s figure beneath, rather than how-low-can-you-go backs and ultra-plunge bodices.

See these stunning gowns next week, when famed Houston salon Mia Bridal Couture hosts an exclusive Rivini Spring 2016 trunk show. Mia’s expert consultants will be on hand to help you select your perfect Rivini gown, and assist you in styling it with beautiful accessories. Plus, Mia Bridal Couture will be offering special purchase incentives (meaning $ off retail!) for brides who purchase a Rivini gown during this special three-day event.

Appointments for this highly anticipated Rivini trunk show WILL fill. Make yours now, and make plans to be utterly and completely wowed.

Ivory, Lavender & Sage Wedding at The Bell Tower on 34th Street

What are the odds that a speed-dating mixer will lead to a happily ever after? Well, Raquel and Robert beat the odds and instantly hit it off. Ten months after meeting at the mixer, Robert wined and dined Raquel at Antica Osteria. “I guessed halfway through dinner what was going to happen,” says Raquel. After dinner Robert took Raquel to Hermann Park for an intimate proposal. “For some reason, all of the lights were out at the park. Nevertheless, the proposal was in true form of our relationship- a little bit of tradition mixed with corky romance, but always full of surprises and good laughs!” adds Raquel. The pair wanted a romantic, garden theme wedding with lots of candles, which perfectly complemented The Bell Tower on 34th Street. “We wanted to include hint of our Asian and Irish heritage through the colors and favors,” she adds. It was only appropriate that Raquel married her Prince Charming in a Rivini gown from Mia Bridal Couture paired with satin white Badgley Mischka peep-toe pumps. *Sigh* Just wait ‘til you see the lovely photos! Congrats and best wishes to the newlyweds!

Blush, Orange, Silver & Gold Wedding at Four Seasons Hotel Houston by DC Stanley Photography

Jane met Andrew during his first week of training in her department at Four Seasons Dallas.  Little did she know that after being transferred to Four Seasons Whistler they would still keep in touch. A year later after traveling back and forth to visit their mutual friends, they had their first date and the rest was history. Jane and Andrew decided that it was only appropriate, as former Four Seasons employees, to celebrate their wedding at Four Seasons Hotel Houston.  “We wanted a simple yet polished design. We decorated the ballroom with soft pink, silver, gold and pops of orange to blend in with the chandeliers,” says Jane. After the reception, guests met at the pool to continue celebrating with drinks, late-night snacks, adult snow cones and a DJ from LG Entertainment that kept everyone dancing until 2 a.m. Sounds like quite the party, huh? Just wait ‘til you see the photos by DC Stanley Photography. Congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds!

WEDDINGS IN HOUSTON FALL 2014 | REAL WEDDING FEATURE

Jordan and Moises ~ March 15, 2014

“Hook, line and sinker,” is how Jordan describes her feeling about Moises when the then-Sigma-Chi-president texted her, “I like your boots,” following the fraternity-chapter meeting where the two first met working on a philanthropic project. While Moises proposed in Paris, the couple’s wedding was Tex-Mex all the way, from their Houston Livestock Show rehearsal dinner to their menu of chips-and-queso, tamales and plantain-crusted chicken, to the custom Texas-flag boots the bride wore at her reception—which took place, incidentally, at her family’s vast horse ranch, where Jordan spent much of her youth. With their wedding, she adds, she and Moises strove for “a tasteful balance between our down-to-earth roots and our love for rich color and bold decor—basically the chicest darn ranch shindig this cowgirl has ever seen!”
