Tori and Miles first met at Baylor University in their law school orientation, which later led to a series of dates that never ended. On Valentine’s Day in 2020, on a trip to a law school competition, Tori was walking the bustling streets of New York City with her classmates. Her flight was scheduled for later that day back to Waco, where Miles was waiting. However, her classmates and family had another plan in mind for her. Tori mindlessly followed the group of students on the way to a brunch spot which happened to be tucked near a stunning view of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline, which lead to the perfect picture opportunity for the group. “Once I started going down the stairs, I saw Miles. I immediately started crying happy tears because I knew what would happen. He proposed down by the river with a gorgeous backdrop, and both of our families were there to see it,” says Tori. Shannon and Austin both have a deep appreciation for good food and great company. That is, after all, what brought the pair together! In 2015, Austin was working as a Chef at Tony’s when a beautiful blonde he’d never seen before found her way to the kitchen. After working side-by-side for the day, they went their separate ways until a year later when they reconnected at a Houston bar. Austin’s friend struck up a conversation with one of Shannon’s friends, and Shannon recognized Austin but couldn’t pinpoint where from. “He said he was a chef and it all clicked. We saw each other for almost every single day after that and haven’t been apart since!” said Shannon.
Then, on a warm, sunny Sunday in June 2019, the inseparable couple went to church and returned home to take their dog, Fennel, to the park. Austin insisted on wearing his church clothes despite Shannon’s concern that he’d be hot and grumpy. But still, he refused to change, instead dropping down on one knee in their backyard to ask the big question. Actually, he forgot to ask, “but that was perfect because he is a man of few words,” said Shannon. Regardless, she said yes and the couple began their wedding planning journey. Chandler, a dancer, always gave Stephen, a singer and songwriter, a hard time because he had never written a song about her. Until one day, the song Chandler had patiently been waiting for finally got written and played when Stephen proposed to her. Chandler says the biggest challenge they faced while planning their wedding was having to plan it all in just three months, but they pulled it off beautifully at Briscoe Manor! “We wanted our wedding to be big and have all of our close family and friends there to celebrate us, but we also wanted it to be simple and elegant. It was a beautiful combination of both of those things,” says the bride.
Following a serene ceremony in Briscoe Manor’s limestone chapel, the couple joined 275 guests for an energetic reception where the bride and her dad surprised their guests with a choreographed dance! Favorite moments for the bride included “Getting ready with all of my favorite girls, seeing Stephen for the first time as I walked down the aisle, dancing with my dad and getting to celebrate on the dance floor with everyone we love so much.”
