Miriam and Juan’s love story began by fate on the picturesque beach of Lagos, Portugal, in April 2015. Both were studying abroad in Europe, and they had independently booked trips to Lagos on Easter Break. While enjoying the sunny day at the beach, Miriam noticed Juan sporting Texas Flag swim shorts. Intrigued, Juan approached Miriam, and they discovered their shared hometown of Houston. They connected on Instagram and Facebook, and although they went on a date a few years later, Miriam wasn’t ready to commit. Samreen and Ahmed met by chance at an airport in 2021. They were both headed to the same faraway place, even though they came from different worlds. Samreen was a city girl from Houston, and Ahmed was a small-town guy from Massachusetts. It all started ten years ago at Texas A&M when Neal’s “ridiculous basketball shorts” stood out to Bhakti, so they started talking, became good friends and eventually, a couple. Then, one night when walking their dog, Archie, Neal put a dog tag on him that said, “Will you marry me?” and proposed. “Everyone that knows us knows how much we love our dog,” says Bhakti.
