When Devin first noticed Rachel, she was already wearing a white dress and veil. At the time, the pair were just 13 years old, but even still, Devin knew he’d marry that girl someday. And that’s exactly what he did! While Devin and Rachel dated for a few months, about a year later, they broke up because of the long-distance. But, in typical millennial fashion, Devin and Rachel connected through social media again in 2017. “One DM on Instagram, and less than a year later, we were engaged!” said Rachel.
The proposal was nothing short of magical. The couple was on a trip to the US Virgin Islands when Devin had Rachel follow a fun scavenger hunt, hop on a boat, and venture to a private island. With the whole beach to themselves, Devin popped the question, and Rachel happily said yes! With such a thoughtful, intimate engagement, it only fits that their wedding was the same. Today we are celebrating all things chic about weddings…and what better way to celebrate it than with this luxury wedding editorial by Stephania Campos at The Post Oak Hotel, the only Texas Forbes Five-Star Hotel and Spa and Houston’s only AAA Five-Diamond destination.
“We wanted a wedding like nothing any of our guests had ever been to,” says Houston bride Meagan, who tied the knot with handsome Brett at an all-out swanky celebration at The Astorian. “We decided to go against tradition and have a big party instead. Our setup was more of a lounge feel. We had passed appetizers, dessert and treats, along with serviced food stations. The bar was open from the moment you arrived. We wanted people to have a great time from beginning to end and I think we succeeded at that!” So do we, Meagan…so do we. “Our favorite moment is when my brother, the officiant, had us actually turn around during the ceremony and look at all of our loved ones surrounding us. I will never forget that moment and seeing all of our guests smiling back at us.” Luckily, she’ll also enjoy the moment, and all the moments of her incredible day, in photographs by Aisha Khan of Ama Photography & Cinema. Congratulations, Meagan & Brett, wishing you a lifetime of love!
Congrats! You’ve found your “Oh yes!” dress. Now it’s time to add a little (or a lot) of sparkle to your big day with the right jewelry for your bridal gown. You’ll want pieces that complement your wedding dress neckline and the overall aesthetic of your wedding. But the most important thing is that you remain true to yourself and feel comfortable with the jewelry pieces you pick up. Read on for our recommendations!
If Your Wedding Dress Has a Sweetheart or Strapless Neckline…
This type of dress leaves a lot of room to cover. The options are limitless. You can wear long queenly earrings with a sparkling choker. Or precious diamond stud earrings with a statement necklace. Whatever you decide make sure it doesn’t overwhelm your beautiful gown.
Gown: Anne Barge
If Your Wedding Dress Has An Off- The- Shoulder Neckline…
Bare shoulders and a loose, upswept bridal hairstyle offer a great opportunity to try a bold, statement-making chandelier earring. Going for a more Boho OTS look? Opt instead of an on-trend “ear crawler,” which will catch the light every time you turn your pretty head. Don’t forget to add a little sparkle to your hair as well. A delicate hairpin will echo your earrings, while still keeping the “less is more” mantra.
If Your Wedding Dress Has a High Neckline…
Skip the necklace altogether. There’s no need to be extra when you’re already the bride. Play around with what kind of earrings fit with your wedding vibe: long, elegant chandelier earrings, delicate vintage drop earrings (perfect for this coming season’s Victorian-inspired bridal gown styles) or sparkly studs. There’s no right or wrong option, as long you feel comfortable and stay true to yourself.
Gown: Galia Lahav
If Your Wedding Dress Has a Plunging V Neckline…
This super-popular wedding dress neckline leaves infinite options. A plunging V neckline naturally makes you look taller and slimmer. Stick to a thin, delicate lariat necklace (IF your bodice is not illusion mesh), or, if you’re feeling bold, go with a eye-catching jeweled cuff, or add a unique hairpiece to your chic, dramatic ponytail, or romantic, tousled braid.
We live for outfit changes—especially at weddings. A second look for the all-night dancing gives you a chance to wear something less fussy, but just as breathtaking as your first look. Whether you’re looking for a chic pant suit, crop top and high-low skirt, or fun fringe, we’ve got you covered. Browse our editor’s faves below, and see a list of local Houston fashion boutiques that carry some of these fabulous dresses here. Happy shopping, xo!
