Matt and Kristine first met 7 years ago and bonded over their mutual love for traveling. Every summer the couple would travel together to a different country or a new state. In addition to loving adventure, Matt and Kristine enjoy spontaneity. They would draw country or state names out of a hat in order to choose their summer travel destinations. Their first international trip was to Costa Rica, and this was where they truly fell in love. “People always say you learn the most about your mate when you travel, so here we are conquering the world one travel at a time,” Kristine says. Their love for adventure shines through in this stunning private airplane engagement shoot captured by Barett Henry of Civic Photos. “I thought it was very ironic to have a shoot with a private plane, because it literally describes us both,” Kristine says.
Big thanks to Houston-based photographer Civic Photos for sharing these gorgeous images, and to Matt and Kristine for sharing their beautiful and adventurous love story!

Houston couple Tristan and Rachel, captured by the lens of Civic Photos, are engagement shoot #goals, pure and simple. This beautiful-inside-and-out Houston pair (he’s an academic director, she’s an MBA candidate and former Miss Texas) chose The Post Oak Hotel for their engagement photography session–AND for their upcoming nuptials!–and took full advantage of the luxury property’s many amazing spaces as backdrops. Collaborating closely with his subjects, as he does for with each unique wedding couple he shoots, photographic artist Barett Henry, owner of Civic Photos, brought out the romance and joy radiating from the to-be-weds. Some images are cool and sophisticated, some are flirtatious and playful (that smile, Tristan…no wonder Rachel is crazy about you!!), and some are downright…fire. It’s the perfect union of couple, location and photographer. And it’s the perfect example of the magic that happens when two joyfully in love people allow their hearts to shine through each moment, and each pose. Join us in congratulating Tristan and Rachel on their engagement, and join us on the journey through this gorgeous Civic Photos engagement shoot! Click here to read the rest of this post »
“Gary and I met in New Orleans in August of 2013,” Erin says. “I always joke that it was love at first sight because the night we first met we also shared our first kiss. I was working in New Orleans as a local television broadcaster and Gary was visiting from Nashville on a brief work trip. It was truly serendipity that we ever crossed paths, but from the moment it happened we became inseparable. Five years later, we are planning the wedding of our dreams [Dec. 8, 2018] in Winter Park, Fla. As much as we love the sophisticated romance of our wedding venue and our first engagement shoot, we wanted to create some intimate and authentic images that capture our life in Miami. For our second engagement shoot with Houston-based Civic Photos we visited Española Way, a colorful and vibrant part of South Beach. This is a place we’ll visit for lunch and people-watching on the weekends. We finished the shoot at the modern and luxurious COMO Metropolitan Hotel. We love the Art Deco interior design of the rooms and the tropical-oasis vibes by the pool. The session was a blast to create and we could not be more pleased with the final images. No matter what the future holds for us or where we might live, we will always have these memories of Miami captured through the lens of Civic Photos.” Let’s take a closer look, shall we?? The story behind Peter and Emelie’s Miami Beach engagement shoot is one of risk-taking, romance and resilience. Peter was living on the Caribbean island of St. Barts when he came across Emelie on Tinder. “She was visiting from Sweden and was on the neighboring island of St Martin,” Peter explains. “I bought her a boat ticket and shipped her right over. We hit it off AMAZINGLY!” A year later, the couple was living on St. Barts when Hurricane Irma barreled down on them, destroying their home and forcing them to flee. “It was a terrifying experience, to say the least,” Peter says. Fortunately, Peter and Emelie were able to find an apartment near the beach in Delray, Fla. And photographer Barett Henry, of Houston-based Civic Photos, was able to capture the essence of the “paradise” they had left behind, in their lovely Miami Beach engagement shoot. “Barett found such a beautiful location for us to shoot at, on the sands of Miami Beach, with a tropical vibe that takes me back to where we first met on St. Barts in the Caribbean,” Emelie says. “I especially love the photographs of Peter and me by the rooftop pool, with the high-rises and big-city feel that our new life in South Florida offers, in the background.” Big thanks to Civic Photos for sharing these sublime images, and to Peter and Emelie for sharing their harrowing, and, ultimately, happy, love story!
