When it comes to weddings, it’s all about the ambiance, darlings — that total experience of sight, sound, fragrance, flavor, setting, landscape and design, all rolled together. And TBH, it’s hard to imagine a wedding location with more built-in ambiance than Agave Estates, Katy’s beautiful hidden gem, nestled into a 30-acre wildlife sanctuary that feels a million miles away from downtown Houston (in reality, it’s only 30).

When you first glimpse the terra cotta walls, wood arbors and curved archways of Agave’s private enclave, you may think you’ve somehow stepped back in time…and into an era of cobblestones and courtyards, the sound of a burbling fountain somewhere in the distance. But nope, no time travel here, honey. You’ve just found yourself face-to-face with a full-service wedding site designed specifically to create a sense of total escape and immersion for your outdoor wedding ceremony and unforgettable reception. In other words: You’ve found a little slice of Paradise.

For those couples seeking a true Spanish Villa vibe — and room to celebrate with up to 300 of their nearest and dearest — the estate’s Agave Road is a favorite. With towering oak trees, fluttering palms, huge hand-carved wood doors and 10,000 square feet of reception space, Agave Road doesn’t just offer ample space and great service, but some of the most gorgeous photo opps in the entire region.

For weddings on the more intimate side, Agave Real features natural stone and wrought-iron accents, glowing sconces, plus a lovely view of the lagoon-like reflecting pool, and is a superb celebration spot for groups of up to 200.

The newest member of the Agave Estates family is Agave Rio — a delightful patio restaurant serving up fresh seafood, steaks and Latin-influenced fare, along with classic, tropical-leaning cocktails, all in an al fresco environment that welcomes you to linger long, and savor the feeling of a relaxing oasis. It’s also a perfect place for elegant rehearsal dinners, engagement parties, bridal showers and day-after brunches. Want to try it out for yourself? Comment on our Agave-themed Facebook and Instagram posts, or email us your first and last name, fiancé’s name, wedding date and wedding venue (either booked or wish listed!) for automatic entry into our Agave Rio Dinner for 2 GIVEAWAY! One lucky bride or groom will WIN; winner will be notified on Tuesday, May 2 and announced on Facebook and Instagram. Shouldn’t it be…YOU?

Emerald Green & Gold Wedding at Agave Estates by Ama Photography & Cinema

Monday, April 10th, 2017

It was friends, food and fate that brought Monica and Chris together, forever. “I had just left an awful couples’ dinner where I was the ONLY single person. After I left the dinner, I went to meet mutual friends at Buffalo Wild Wings to watch a UFC fight,” says Monica. “I was not in the mood to mingle, but Chris offered me his seat and somehow found a way to make me smile (as he always does). The rest was history,” she adds.

It wasn’t long before Chris planned the perfect, intimate proposal for Monica. They went for a couple’s massage, got chocolate truffles form Liebman’s and then took a long walk around Terry Hershey Park. He originally planned to propose to Monica at the park, but in typical Houston fashion, it began to rain. Chris decided to take her back to his house, where they relaxed on the couch with the box of chocolates. “We were talking, but I could tell he was holding something back,” says Monica. “I thought maybe he was turned off by the way I was eating chocolates (lol). He then nervously started to tell me how much I meant to him and popped the question,” recounts Monica.

Monica walked down the aisle in style wearing a full-sleeved lace gown from Houston Bridal Gallery, and danced the night away at the rustic, Spanish wedding venue, Agave Estates . “Our wedding was a dream come true from the ceremony, to our final exit for the night,” says Monica. “My favorite moment was when we recited our vows to each other, and promised to spend forever together in front of our closest family and friends. Everyone came together to celebrate us and it was a night we’ll never forget,” adds Monica. We couldn’t be happier for these two!

Tucked away in the lush forests of Katy lies one of our region’s most picturesque wedding venues: With Old World, Mexican-influenced charm, and state-of-the-art amenities, Agave Estates offers all-inclusive wedding ceremonies and receptions services that combine gracious hospitality with relaxed elegance. Joining Agave Estates’ popular Agave Real and Agave Road venues is Agave Rio—the Estates’ new on-site celebration space and restaurant, offering superb private dining options for engagement parties, bridesmaids gatherings and rehearsal dinners, along with a dreamy, rustic-chic backdrop for intimate ceremonies.

And here’s even more exciting news: At the helm of the new Agave Rio is Executive Chef Eric Aldis—a star of the Houston culinary scene. Chef Eric started his career at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston, and has made a name for himself in culinary operations at such prestigious properties at the Bellagio Las Vegas and the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans. Locally, Chef Aldis has earned a reputation for bringing sustainable food practices to acclaimed restaurants including Mark’s American Cuisine, Mo’s and Corner Table.

We recently spoke to Chef Eric about his partnership with Agave Rio, and what wedding couples—and Houston foodies—can expect from Katy’s newest restaurant/celebration space. Here’s what we found out:

HWB: What makes Agave Estates special, and how does the venue and its setting inspire you?

Chef Aldis: Agave Estates is special because of the architecture, the beautiful landscape…and a professional culture to match. The venue and setting inspired me to create a menu of American cuisine using local and exotic ingredients.

HWB: What are some of the signature menu items you are creating for Agave Rio?

Chef Aldis: Oysters Agave (a hearth-roasted Blue Point oyster with salsa verde, lump crab and Mexican truffle, grilled at 900 degrees); Chauvinist Pig (a house-carved pork shoulder with bacon, prosciutto and brie, served on brioche bread)…and Shipley Donut Bread Pudding.

HWB: Yum! How does creating menus for wedding celebrations differ from creating restaurant fare, and what do you enjoy about developing personalized, special-occasion menus?

Chef Aldis: We pride ourselves on providing high-quality restaurant fare as well as menus for wedding celebrations. Preparation and planning are identical for both. I really enjoy developing personalized special-occasion menus. It gives me the opportunity to step outside the box and create—especially when cooking for guests with special dietary needs and providing a true 5-star experience.

HWB: What excites you most about your Agave Estates partnership?

Chef Aldis: This partnership excites me to be able to provide an entertainment venue for Katy, Texas—my hometown!

WEDDINGS IN HOUSTON Spring 2015 | Real Wedding Feature

Holly & Elliot ~ September 1, 2013

Though they attended the same Fort Bend high school, Holly and Elliott didn’t actually meet until years later at a birthday party. “I saw Elliott playing giant Jenga, and instantly his smile drew me in,” Holly recounts. There were smiles all around when Elliott surprised Holly with his proposal in front of more than 20 family members and close friends at a Thanksgiving dinner the couple hosted at their home. And more smiles still when 180 guests gathered for the couple’s sunset wedding at Katy’s Agave Road, where, after a night of celebration, the newlyweds snuck outside for a last dance to Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon.”
