Pastel Wedding at The Astorian for High School Sweethearts

Courtney and Kenneth grew up in the same hometown and have known each other since junior high. It wasn’t until high school, through color guard and band, that their friendship truly began to blossom. “I would stay after school to help ‘clean instruments’ before contests, but I really just wanted to hang out with him more,” the bride shares. By senior year, the two officially started dating, and their relationship continued to grow throughout college.

After dating for some time, Courtney was working an open house at The Astorian in Houston, where she works. Toward the end of the night, Kenneth had the band play their favorite song, “He asked me to dance and I said he was crazy,” the bride says, completely unaware of what was about to happen. Eventually, she gave in, and on the dance floor, Kenneth asked Courtney to be his forever. She happily said “yes,” and the newly engaged couple celebrated with McDonald’s fries and milkshakes.

The high school sweethearts had a pastel wedding at The Astorian in the summer. Before walking down the aisle, Courtney and Kenneth shared a private, intimate first look, taking in a quiet moment together before becoming husband and wife. Adorned in shades of pink, orange, and hints of olive green, the ceremony exuded a serene elegance, surrounded by lush florals. After the ceremony, Courtney and Kenneth shared their first dance to the same song he had proposed to her, in the very same place, making the moment even more sentimental. A three-tier cake by Cakes by Gina, garnished with bright florals, added a fresh pop of color, alongside a naked cake with daisies and a hummingbird topper. The night was filled with dining, dancing, and, of course, live music. To end the night, the newlyweds made a fun, stylish exit as guests waved streamers!

Congratulations, Courtney & Kenneth!
