Weddings in Houston: How does the Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa blend historic preservation and modern amenities? What specific design elements showcase the property’s rich history while also providing guests with a luxurious hotel experience?

Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa: With three 19th-century homes on the property, the history of the hotel surrounds you. Two of the homes have been converted into The Spa Plaza San Antonio. Keeping the original architecture while upgrading and creating a zen place was no small undertaking. The third home, and most famous, is our Arciniega Suite. Our take on a presidential suite, this home is secluded from the main hotel. We have kept the home’s original stone walls while bringing the décor and other accents into the 21st century. The very spacious and luxurious bath is nothing short of spectacular.

WiH: For couples planning a wedding, what makes the Hotel a great ceremony and reception venue? How can you accommodate various wedding styles and themes?

PSAHS: Choosing Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa for your wedding ceremony and reception makes planning your wedding easy, fun, and exciting. We handle most of your needs from your venue, sleeping room accommodations, food and beverage, planning, expert staff and unparalleled execution. All you need to worry about are florals, photography, music and cake. Many other venues’ services are limited, and a couple will be dealing with a dozen vendors to get staff, tables/chairs, linen, bars, bartenders, etc. More specifically, our Oasis Lawn is exactly like nothing else in San Antonio and is the perfect place to say “I DO”! Our nationally registered champion Anaqua Tree towers over the lawn for a beautiful backdrop. The resort feel in downtown San Antonio allows couples to have the best of both worlds. Our garden oasis extends inside the Hotel with abundant plants and beautiful garden-inspired artwork. Your cocktail hour is held in a glass atrium foyer, allowing the outside in. You can enjoy the warmth of the sunshine or the beauty of a star-filled sky. For the reception, each wedding is customized to the couple’s own style. Our 6,000-square-foot La Villita ballroom, with neutral blue/gray tones, allows for any color pallet or décor. We can customize your entire event from an elegant plated dinner to a more fun, casual station-style event. Menu tastings with our executive chef allow our couples to be very included in the process.

The Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa's can accommodate guests with their modern and updated suites.

WiH: What sets the guest rooms and suites apart from a typical hotel?

PSAHS: Being built in the 1970s, our renovation kept the original footprint of the hotel, which means larger-than-average guest rooms with amazing balconies. Completely reimagined décor and updated amenities make you feel right at home. Enjoy a morning coffee on a balcony overlooking our Garden Oasis or the Tower of the Americas while never feeling like you are in the middle of downtown. Serenity and calm are what the day calls for.

San Antonio's newest hotel has an on-site pool.

WiH: Tell us about the amenities the hotel can offer couples and their guests.

PSAHS: We want our couples to enjoy all our amenities! We have our beautiful spa for the nervous couple to help them relax. Our wedding packages include a complimentary spa service for the couple prior to the big day. Corinne Restaurant and Bar also provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The private dining room is perfect for rehearsal dinners. Feeling like staying in? Allow our in-room dining service to take care of your every wish, early or late. Pre and post-wedding, enjoy our Anaqua Garden Bar and Pavilion. No matter the weather, our outside garden bar offers a climate-controlled experience. Unlike any other bar in San Antonio, all wedding-goers must check out Anaqua for at least a nightcap after the reception.
