McClary and Clay’s love story began in a Houston dive bar while Clay was visiting from Austin for a friend’s engagement party. What started as a casual conversation quickly turned into a surprise as they realized they knew people within each other’s friend groups. Between shared connections and a little friendly competition over arcade basketball, an easy spark formed. The night ended with Clay asking for McClary’s number, and just a week later, they went on their first date, and the rest fell into place!
By the summer of 2024, McClary and Clay were living together in Asheville, North Carolina, a place that had become deeply special to them. One weekend, Clay surprised McClary with a stay at a stunning rooftop hotel overlooking downtown and the Blue Ridge Mountains, where he asked her to marry him. McClary joyfully said yes, and the two spent the rest of the weekend celebrating at the Biltmore Estate, touring the vineyard, enjoying wine tastings, unwinding by the pool, and soaking it all in. “It was truly the dreamiest weekend,” the bride shares.
McClary and Clay pledged their love in a dreamy, al fresco spring wedding surrounded by shades of green, yellow, and blue. Lush florals by Plants N’ Petals made the outdoor setting feel full and vibrant. To honor a family tradition, McClary wore a 101-year-old heirloom veil passed down through generations of Clay’s family. “It was such a special way to feel connected to the women in his family and to carry on a beautiful tradition,” the bride says. During cocktail hour, the newlyweds slipped away for a private dinner together before the evening began, even practicing their first dance. “Having that private moment together is something we’ll always remember,” the bride shares. The evening unfolded in a celebration decorated with verdant greenery and white florals, creating a soft, romantic atmosphere.
