Greg was smitten when Meredith first messaged him on the dating app, Bumble, and said, “Hi LG!” since only his family called him by that nickname. Fast forward in time, Greg surprised Meredith with a weekend trip to his hometown in San Antonio, TX. It was in his hometown that Greg chose to propose to Meredith on the balcony of the historic Hotel Emma. Unfortunately, just a few months after their engagement, Meredith’s mother was diagnosed with cancer. Unable to make it to the wedding, Meredith and Greg found meaningful ways to honor her.

For their fall wedding, the couple chose to wed at the timeless and elegant Briscoe Manor. Meredith’s father officiated the wedding ceremony in the Briscoe Chapel, accompanied by 275 of their closest loved ones. They exchanged their vows in front of a stunning gold arch draped with florals and greenery. The bride described her wedding as “classic with a hint of modern” and thoughtfully included both wine and blush throughout the ceremony and reception. Even the deer mounts hanging on the bar walls had a wine and blush floral touch! Garden floral arrangements beautifully decorated the tables along with silver dollar eucalyptus hanging from the chandeliers and fireplace. Behind the Bash kept fall in mind, serving up a decadent fall salad with fresh spinach leaves, complete with a carving station offering both herb-crusted beef sirloin and pork loin stuffed with jalapeno cheddar cornbread.  Later that evening, white glow sticks and flower crowns were a hit on the dance floor! One of their favorite memories of the wedding was the fabulous firework display before riding off in a pearl-colored Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II from Monarch British Limousines.

Classic Ivory, Merlot and Blush Wedding by Sarah Ainsworth Photography

From its serene gold-accented palette, to its seasonal menu of roasted corn chowder and beef tenderloin with wild-mushroom-and-onion risotto, to its crystal chandeliers and soft candlelight, Hayley and Jeffrey’s fall wedding is pretty much a perfect example of how to do fall elegance fabulously. The couple, who met on a blind date (!!)—which led to a second date the very next day—wanted their marriage celebration to be not just full of love, but utterly timeless. We think they did both, beautifully. And we’ve got the gorgeous photos by super-talented Houston photographer Sarah Ainsworth to prove it. Congratulations, Hayley & Jeffrey!

Place Cards and Favors for Wine Weddings

Houston is a food- and wine-lovers’ paradise. Its fertile surrounding lands are also home to more than a few beautiful wineries—Messina Hof is one of our faves—where a wine-loving couple may wish to wed. If you’re planning to get hitched at a local vineyard, or to feature good wine, big time, at your wedding, make it personal with custom wine labels from the wonderful Nancy Nikko (whose also does lovely custom canning labels, bookplates and oodles more, btw). While wine stopper options abound, our current favorites are erasable ceramic Placetile’s, which do double duty as place cards and favors—and Daisy Mae Designs’ awesome “map” stoppers, which you can customize with a snippet of Texas territory. And for sheer prettiness, we absolutely adore flower-accent wine-cork place-card holders from Karas Vineyard Wedding, featured here in beloved Tiffany blue, but available in just about any color you can imagine. Check out these, and a couple more wine-theme cuties, below.
