Church brought Lauren, an introvert, and Paul, an extrovert, together. A romantic proposal while hiking up Enchanted Rock, during which the bride jokes they were “Sharing puns about getting an ‘enchanted rock’ on Enchanted Rock,” sealed their relationship. “I knew from the moment Paul gave me that side hug over two years ago that we were meant for each other. I am so grateful to call him mine for the rest of our lives!” As Lauren and Paul set out to plan their wedding, the couple faced an unexpected obstacle on the road to their wedding day: the Coronavirus pandemic. After having to cancel their original church and reception venue, all hope seemed lost until Paul called his step-grandfather, who had built a church in Galveston over 40 years ago. ”He graciously opened the doors of his church for us and also officiated our wedding,” says Lauren. From there a new celebration was planned and after a whirlwind three weeks of re-planning, the couple’s dream Houston wedding became a Galveston wedding reality.

At last, Lauren and Paul pledged their love amidst 70 guests. “Even with six feet spacing between them, our guests felt near to our hearts,” says the bride. The intimate celebration continued at Hotel Galvez & Spa’s Music Hall for a sunny afternoon reception. The decor was soft and elegant, with a delicate palette of sage, pink, peach and cream. Notes the bride: “The bright tropical landscape with the classic vintage architecture was a gorgeous backdrop for a day that Paul and I will never forget.” After heartfelt speeches and dining on filet mignon with roasted asparagus, the newlyweds made their grand exit along the Seawall at sunset. “Although our wedding ended up being nothing like our original plan, it was a beautiful, joyful day.”

We’re so happy that everything worked out for newlyweds Lauren and Paul and delighted to share their elegant and intimate daytime wedding at Hotel Galvez & Spa. Congratulations, Lauren & Paul!

Wyoming Destination Wedding by Civic Photos

An online dating success story, Marka and Adam first met through OkCupid. Although their first in-person date over coffee seemed rather low-key, sparks flew as the couple commenced talking for hours. And just like that, the connection of a lifetime was made. The couple decided to keep things simple for their nuptials, celebrating with 28 of their closest family and friends in Moran, Wy. Against the awe-inspiring view of the Teton Range, Marka and Adam exchanged their vows. “It stopped raining right as our ceremony began,” notes the bride. Following the ceremony, guests were treated to an intimate wild-game feast including buffalo filet mignon, elk and trout. “My favorite moment was getting our closest friends and family into the middle of nowhere to enjoy the beautiful surroundings…with lots of alcohol,” laughs Marka. Feast your eyes on this lovely couple’s festivities, captured in images by fine Houston wedding photography studio Civic Photos!

Champagne, Lavender, Sage & Blue Houston Wedding

Kelly and Tom met at work, just across the hall from each other. So let’s set the picture here: These two peeking across the hallway—anxious to see one another, butterflies fluttering. After many group outings, Tom finally asked Kelly out officially. Kelly remembers their first date like it was yesterday; laughing, talking, and Tom’s incredibly fun personality. You know how they say that travel is the true test of compatibility? Well, these two passed that test with flying colors! Of all the traveling they did, Kelly was most excited to experience Brazil, where Tom spent his childhood. And Tom couldn’t wait to share her with his home—especially with the family and friends he hadn’t seen in over 10 years! Little did Kelly know that Tom had asked Kelly’s family for her hand in marriage prior to the couple’s South American sojourn. And what a proposal it was! In the beautiful white-sand beach town of Buzios, Tom proposed to Kelly…on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The couple recalls, “We followed a few days later with a lot of celebrating with friends that now mean so much to us both!” Their wedding was a vision of sophistication and charm with hues of French blue, sage green, lavender and champagne—all alluding to a picturesque French Country setting. We have no doubt that Tom shed a tear or two when he saw Kelly walk down the aisle in her stunning Rivini Gown from Mia Bridal Couture. The couple’s guests were just as in love with the wedding as Kelly and Tom are with each other. Kelly recounts that guests commented that the celebration was “more like a movie or a dream, so intimate and gorgeous.” Susie’s Cakes & Confections offered up a perfect rendition of a French-inspired wedding cake, with four tiers of decadent vanilla and raspberry sweetness that could seriously make you feel like you were in Paris. Thank you so much, Kelly and Tom, for sharing your joy with us…et félicitations à vous deux!

Blush, Ivory, Gold & Sage Wedding by D. Jones Photography

“Although I didn’t start off liking Jimmy (due to the fact that he was a minor league baseball player and I didn’t like athletes), I apparently was won over by his great dart skills,” says Houston bride Alex. The pair may have two different stories about how their love story began while they were interning for the Houston Texans, but they can both agree that, ultimately, they were inseparable. “Our wedding was a dream come true. We’ve never felt more loved or special,” recounts Alex. “Our officiant was Jimmy’s best friend, so that made the ceremony more personal. It was an incredible feeling.” We can’t begin to tell you how breathtaking Alex looked in her lace gown from Weddings by Debbie. We could go on and on, but we’ll let the couple’s beautiful photos from D. Jones Photography do the talking. Congrats and best wishes to the newlyweds!

Ivory, Lavender & Sage Wedding at The Bell Tower on 34th Street

What are the odds that a speed-dating mixer will lead to a happily ever after? Well, Raquel and Robert beat the odds and instantly hit it off. Ten months after meeting at the mixer, Robert wined and dined Raquel at Antica Osteria. “I guessed halfway through dinner what was going to happen,” says Raquel. After dinner Robert took Raquel to Hermann Park for an intimate proposal. “For some reason, all of the lights were out at the park. Nevertheless, the proposal was in true form of our relationship- a little bit of tradition mixed with corky romance, but always full of surprises and good laughs!” adds Raquel. The pair wanted a romantic, garden theme wedding with lots of candles, which perfectly complemented The Bell Tower on 34th Street. “We wanted to include hint of our Asian and Irish heritage through the colors and favors,” she adds. It was only appropriate that Raquel married her Prince Charming in a Rivini gown from Mia Bridal Couture paired with satin white Badgley Mischka peep-toe pumps. *Sigh* Just wait ‘til you see the lovely photos! Congrats and best wishes to the newlyweds!

Sage, Peach & Coral Garden Wedding by J. Cogliandro Photography

Robin first met Andrew back in 2003 when he hired her as his paralegal. “I had no idea my future husband was right down the hall all those years,” says Robin, who would one day marry that charming attorney in the garden of the home she would share with him in the heart of Houston’s Museum District. On that wonderful day, the couple’s home provided the perfect backdrop to complement their nature-inspired wedding theme, where shades of coral and peach provided pops of color among the soft beige and ivory decor. Following the enchanted-garden ceremony, a cocktail hour on the pool terrace treated guests to fine wine, cocktails and hors d’oeuvre. The reception took place in the backyard underneath a tent covered with quince branches and hung with a chandelier draped with flowers in shades of peach, apricot and coral. Swooning already? Yeah, we thought so. Check out the decadent details for yourself in our amazing photos by J. Cogliandro Photography. Congrats and well wishes to the newlyweds!
