While Catherine and Paten originally met and even dated for a few years in high school starting in 2009, it wasn’t until a crawfish boil seven years later that the pair rekindled their romance. When they started dating a few months later, they could feel this time was different than their previous fling. So, when Paten got down on one knee during a trip to New Braunfels with a group of close friends, “he asked the easiest question of my life!” explained Catherine. Then, in March 2021, the couple tied the knot in a stunning white and rose gold wedding at Madera Estates. Click here to read the rest of this post »
When Jessica’s brother-in-law invited her over to teach a yoga class for him and a friend who was training for the Houston Marathon, she had no idea that she’d be meeting her future husband, Alex. “As cliché as it sounds, it was love at first sight,” explained Jessica. The couple began dating shortly after, and on November 6, 2020, Alex popped the big question during a family trip to Telluride, Colorado. Little did Jessica know, his whole family was in on the surprise! He proposed at the top of a mountain with his parents and siblings there to capture the moment on camera and celebrate with a bottle of bubbly.
Upon returning to Houston, the couple began looking for wedding venues, deciding on the elegant Astorian. “The Astorian is so breathtaking in and of itself, so I wanted soft white flowers and a lot of candlelight,” said Jessica. The floral wedding arch and canopies of white flowers and greenery cascading from the columns perfectly balanced Jessica and Alex’s wedding color palate against the Astorian’s rich architecture and 1920’s-esque tones. The tables creatively wrapped around each column, giving guests the feeling of dining in a lush garden with the Houston skyline peeking in through windows. Click here to read the rest of this post »
The phrase “When you know, you know” couldn’t be more true for Julia and Bryce! Julia has always loved weddings and dreamed of her own since she was a little girl. So when she met Bryce in 2017 not only did she immediately know he would be her future husband, but she also knew exactly what type of wedding she wanted when the time came.
Following a romantic beachside proposal, the time finally came 11 months later when the couple tied the knot in a traditional Catholic church ceremony before joining 230 of their loved ones for a classic wedding reception at Northgate Country Club. “We wanted a very timeless and classic wedding,” notes the bride, describing the elegant rose gold and white color palette. “The white dance floor and white draped walls, paired with the large windows overlooking the rolling hills of Northgate Country Club, made for the most elegant reception. We had large arrangements of peonies, spray roses, and hydrangeas which matched perfectly with the blush uplighting. The glass chandeliers, rose petals, and floating candles in all of the window sills transformed the venue into the most dreamy space.” The newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a delectable filet mignon with roasted potatoes and asparagus and danced the night away before ending their classic wedding celebration with a golden sparkler sendoff! Says Julia: “Our big day was nothing short of the most marvelous fairy tale.” Join us in wishing this sweet Houston couple a lifetime of love and scroll down to see their stunning highlight wedding video from Houston videographer Reverent Wedding Films. Anita and Bill met as neighbors at a house party during Lights In The Heights in 2017 while they bonded over having daughters. “I was a little shy but his constant warmth and helpfulness lead us to become fast friends who found had similar stories: some happy, some painful,” recounts Anita. “We quickly found ourselves and our girls to be inseparable and decided we are better together than apart!” While on a trip to Bill’s hometown of New Orleans, Bill took Anita and their daughters to explore Jackson Square. “I watched our girls running around in joy in a post-Christmas mist thinking how lucky we all were to find one another,” recalls Anita. “I turned to look and found Bill on his knee proposing! Needless to say, I was blown away and passersby all stopped to watch as our girls whooped all around us. I said yes and the rest is history… “
For their summer wedding, it was only natural that the couple would tie the knot at Texas creole restaurant Brennan’s of Houston for a classic New Orleans brunch. “Brennan’s of Houston was the perfect location and the courtyard was beautiful for our outdoor morning ceremony,” says the bride. “We chose live music and had a small intimate wedding. Our girls were the flower girls and only our family and our neighbor family (which is so fitting since that is where we met) attended.” For their reception meal seafood dominated the menu, paying tribute to the bride’s Croatian heritage and the groom’s New Orleans upbringing, where guests dined on crab cakes, Gulf coast snapper, and Banana’s foster. Since their brunch wedding was on Father’s Day, the couple had a variety of wedding favors for their guests including cigars for the men, gift sets for the kids, and jams from Croatia where Anita and her family are from. “It was a series of perfect moments,” says Anita. “Two people who didn’t expect love again were able to find it literally right outside their doors…”
