Royal Blue, Green, Purple & Silver Wedding by Adam Nyholt Photographer

Not all love stories start off with instant attraction. Just ask Callie, who did not hit it off with Eric when they first met at McGrady’s Pub in Charlottesville, Virginia during the Georgia vs. Florida game. Since they were rooting for opposing teams, Callie was, naturally, NOT a fan of Eric. “I would visit Charlottesville occasionally and he would always come over and ask if I wanted to get a drink with him. I refused,” Eric’s future bride says. Although she consistently turned him down, Eric was determined to get her to go out with him. He eventually reached out through Facebook, which turned into phone calls, FaceTime chats and finally the first date. Which turned into the second date. Then the third, fourth…twenty-seventh, etc. Until that magical day when Callie walked down the aisle in a gorgeous lace Anna Maier gown from Joan Pillow Bridal Salon, accessorized with her mom’s veil, sister’s bridal sash and grandmother’s rosary in her bouquet. “Our wedding was exactly what we wanted,” recounts Callie. “It was such a wonderful feeling to look at each other, know that we were married and surrounded by so many people who love us.” It’s true. Persistence always pays off, right Eric? We couldn’t be happier for the couple, and we wish them a lifetime of happiness. Thanks Adam Nyholt for the lovely photos!

Romantic Wedding at The Bell Tower on 34th

“I work very long and exhausting days as a registered nurse. I told Casey that sometimes when I have a bad day, I just want to come home from work and for him to propose to make it all better. Casey did just that. I came home from work one day to rose petals and candles scattered throughout our house. He made my favorite meal: steak, Fleming’s style mac and cheese, asparagus and salad. The ring box was sitting in a container of my favorite popcorn that Casey ordered specially for me from Chicago. It was the most perfect evening,” recounts bride Tara. And so was their wedding at the Bell Tower on 34th. Tara and Casey described their wedding to be romantic, personal and fun for everyone to enjoy. The pair danced the night away with 240 of their nearest and dearest. The grandeur evening ended with late night bites from Whataburger (mmm…) for guests and a flutter fetti exit for the couple. Sounds like quite the celebration, right? Check out the lovely photos below and see for yourself! Congrats and best wishes to the newlyweds! We wish you a lifetime of happiness.

Metallic Wedding at The Houstonian by Akil Bennett Photographer

Brittney and Jeff grew up in the same town and even attended their high school’s Homecoming together as friends back in 2002, but it wasn’t until much later that the pair officially became a couple. On a trip to San Francisco with Brittney’s parents, Jeff planned a night to remember for his love when he proposed in front of the Golden Gate Bridge on their way to dinner: “The best part was that the Uber driver had my phone and was able to capture the entire thing,” notes Brittney. Surrounded by 250 of their closest loved ones, the pair tied the knot in a formal Methodist ceremony and then gathered for hors d’oeuvre and dancing at the glamorous Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. Metallic hues of gold, bronze and gunmetal gray gave the “lounge”-styled room a fabulously futuristic flair, a live blues band entertained the crowd and Susie’s Cakes & Confections provided a three-tier monogrammed cake for guests to enjoy before hitting the dance floor. The bride’s favorite part of the evening, however, “was when the confetti cannons went off on the dance floor while everyone was dancing and having a good time.” Congratulations, Brittney and Jeff!

Navy, Ivory, Gold & Coral Wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston by Steve Lee Photography

Casey and Bill’s love story started while they were both in high school living as expats in Trinidad. They decided to part ways after being accepted to different colleges but later re-kindled their relationship during their last semester of college. A few years later, back in the U.S., Bill planned a sweet trip to Galveston with Casey for her birthday. “Bill planned to propose in Galveston, but after holding on to the ring for a two hours waiting for me to arrive at his house, he decided he couldn’t wait much longer,” Casey recounts. “We were sitting at his kitchen table where I was finishing up a work call. As soon as I hung up I jumped up and apologized for our delay and told him I was ready to go. He stood up to deliver the proposal speech he had prepared, but couldn’t get a word out. He dropped down on one knee and went straight to the question. I have never been more surprised in my life!” Casey says. The lovebirds planned their picture-perfect summer wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston where Casey wed Bill in a gorgeous Anne Barge gown from Ivory Bridal Atelier. The couple’s favorite moment? “We danced to Soca music with several guests who were expats in Trinidad with us. We got to relive the culture we grew up in and show our American friends and family,” says Casey. We’ll let the beautiful photos by Steve Lee do the rest of the talking for us. Congrats and best wishes to the newlyweds!

Wedding Invitations We Love

If there’s a trend in wedding invitations for 2015 and 2016 weddings, it’s personalization. Letterpress, thermography, foil printing, laser cutting, vintage fonts, unexpected envelope liners–all of these are on the table. The key to choosing the right combination of style, color and printing technique is letting your invitation reflect the unique feel and look of your wedding. This is the first glimpse your guests will get of the celebration they will experience. Make it shine…and make a magnificent first impression!
