Romance? There’s an App for That!

What Makes True Love iPhone

We love a good wedding app, don’t you? And we especially love a good wedding app that makes us feel…good. Which is exactly what legendary jeweler Tiffany’s new “What Makes Love True” app does. Rather than matching happy couples to their perfect rings, like its earlier iPhone app does, the new, multimedia-heavy app—FREE, and compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad—takes users on an interactive romantic journey. After you watch a short film about proposal stories titled “Will You Marry Me?” from director Ed Burns (which left nary a dry eye among us, truth be told), you can peruse tons of classic and exclusive films and music “for the heart,” enjoy audio-slideshow “love stories,” or avail yourself of romance advice. There’s also an awesome feature that lets you tag your most romantic memories anywhere on the face of the Earth. Like, say, Houston.

So far, users have raves for this romantic, interactive app. We’d love to know what you think of What Makes Love True. Download, explore, and comment here! No i-device? No prob. What Make Love True is also online!

Tiffany & Co. Launches Engagement Ring iPhone App

With her social schedule and style sense (not to mention her gig forwarding messages from Sing-Sing resident Sally Tomato), we’re pretty sure that if Holly Golightly were around in 2010, she’d be packing an iPhone in her designer clutch.  Just imagine her joy at discovering that her beloved Tiffany’s had launched an app of its very own! That’s right, the famed jewelry retailer has introduced the Tiffany & Co. Engagement Ring Finder iPhone app. Browse Tiffany engagement ring styles (rings shown are true to size), view diamond carat weights (you can customize styles with six different carat sizes), zoom in on details, save choices and share favorites via e-mail, Facebook and Twitter, all from your iPhone or iPad (though not all features are compatible with the latter).

The best part? Though your genuine Tiffany diamond engagement ring might cost more than a new car (you’re MORE than worth it, of course), the Tiffany engagement ring iPhone app is FREE!

Hot Wedding Apps

If you’re one of those lucky gals who just got a cool new iPhone this holiday season, take note: Your phone can do more than call, text, e-mail, shoot, guide, play, look up, add up, alert, inform and entertain. Why, that ingenious little handful of technology can help you plan your wedding, too!

Wedding-related iPhone apps abound—some made specifically for wedding planning, some just natural fits for the planning-mode bride—and, as with all apps, some are simply better than others. To help you decide which app is best for you, we’ve noted a few of our favorites:

iWedding Deluxe
iWeddingDeluxe
This turnkey planning app (it replaces the earlier iWedding app) includes such handy features as a fully customizable to-do list, scheduler, auto or manual budget tracker, guest detail section, invitation status tracker, gift tracker and inspiration/ideas section. We’re big fans of the home screen Quickview Binder, which provides fast access to to-dos, notes, budget and photos.

iBridalGown
ibridalgown
So many gowns, such a useful app! When you shop at a local bridal salon, enter detailed info on the gowns you’re considering—style, silhouette, fabric, price, etc.—along with notes on any special features or thoughts you might have about each gown (“very Audrey Hepburn a la ‘My Fair Lady,’” “better w/no straps?” “Brad’s gonna LOVE it,” etc.). Also lets you take and organize gown pix (first make sure the salon allows pre-purchase photos—many don’t).

Etsy Addict

The vintage craze is in full swing for 2010 weddings, and there’s no better place to find unique, handmade, vintage-inspired wedding fashion, accessories and décor than at that haven of all things handmade, Etsy. A mere buck buys you this awesome app, which lets you browse Etsy listings by category, view listing details including materials and price, and instantly grab limited-edition listings before another buyer beats you to it. A recent visit to Etsy turned up such fantastic finds as handmade wedding bands, gorgeous Art Deco jewelry and—so cool—wedding gowns from Project Runway Season 6 finalist Carol Hannah. If these sorts of handmade treasures appeal to you, get your hands on this app, pronto!
