Planning a wedding is hard enough…but planning a wedding in the middle of a global pandemic is even harder! College sweethearts Elly and Trevor faced countless challenges while trying to navigate their intimate summer wedding in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Should they postpone? Should they cancel? Or should they stick to their original date? Luckily love prevailed and they managed to pull off the celebration of a lifetime at The Astorian“COVID-19 was definitely the biggest obstacle for us,” says the bride. “We had planned, postponed, then decided on June 19th that we were going to get married on our original date (June 27th), no matter what the day looked like. Everything seemed to fall into place after we made the decision to move forward and called our vendors. It ended up being the most gorgeous day I could have ever imagined. It was the ideal intimate wedding experience.” A gorgeous day indeed, and we are so thankful towards Houston wedding photographer Ama By Aisha for beautifully capturing their special day!

Following their church ceremony, the couple joined 50 of their nearest and dearest at The Astorian for an intimate wedding reception. The reception decor was romantic and elegant, featuring a beautiful summer color palette of white, blush and green with champagne and dusty blue accents. Menu highlights from Cordúa Catering included Golf crab cakes, smoked lamb lollichops, and truffled grilled cheese. The meal’s sweet finish featured a five-tier white wedding cake accented with blue Italian tile print and a yeti groom’s cake, both from Cakes By GinaThe memorable night ended with the couple exiting under a shower of golden sparklers before making their getaway in a vintage 1955 Rolls Royce. The bride’s favorite moment? “Getting ready with my girls in The Astorian bridal suite was perfect,” says the bride. “We blasted our music and drank mimosas while getting our hair and makeup done!” We’re so happy that everything worked out for newlyweds Elly and Trevor and excited to share their romantic and intimate summer wedding with y’all. Congratulations, Elly & Trevor!

Intimate, Elegant, House Party Wedding by Willow Tree Photographs

“An intimate day with our closest loved ones” is how Houston bride Lisa describes her vision for her autumn wedding to Paul.  To keep things cozy, casual, but decidedly vintage-chic, the couple selected a 6,500-square-foot, Old-World-style residence on the grounds of an oak-dappled Hockley country club as their venue—and kept their guest count to a cozy 80 friends and family members. Houston Wedding Blog fave Tamara Menges created lovely arrangements of hydrangea and roses and berries, with a palette based on pale greens and antique-pink hues, and placed them throughout the residential space, along with framed personal photos of the wedding couple’s, to blend with the rustic-luxurious decor, rather than stand out from it. Heavy hors d’oeuvre, fine wine and cocktails subbed in for “a stuffy sit-down dinner,” Lisa notes, and guests spent the evening mingling, getting to know one another, nestling down on sumptuous sofas, laughing, conversing, and, as the evening went on, dancing to the tunes of a singer-songwriter-guitarist (he played acoustic for the ceremony) turned DJ. “It was exactly the way we wanted it to look and feel,” Lisa says—and the joy and satisfaction she felt shows, radiantly, on her face and Paul’s, captured for posterity by Willow Tree Photographs.
