There’s not a ton of time for med students to just…chill. But Michelle and Stephen made the most of theirs, spent watching “bad reality TV,” but doing something extraordinary: They fell in love. What started as a down-time friendship, blossomed into a forever bond, sealed by Stephen’s quiet, intimate proposal during a lakeside walk. The pair didn’t have tons of free time, either, to spend on designing the wedding of their dreams. THAT was handled by the expert floral artists at League City’s Haute Flowers & Events, who fulfilled Michelle’s fantasy of a “garden-themed, magical wedding, filled with tones of blush pink, gold and green.” Infused with light, fresh springtime touches everywhere, and, most of all, love, the couple’s country club wedding was both simple and splendid, and we are SO happy to share it with y’all here! Introduced by a mutual friend when the groom moved to Houston for work in 2009, Leanne and West “instantly clicked,” the bride says. Lots more clicking came one fateful eve when the two arrived at their fave Tex-Mex spot for what the bride thought was a regular ol’ Saturday-night date. We’ll let her tell the tale in her own words: “When I reached the top of the stairs, on the way to our seat, I saw a table on the landing with flowers, candles and a frame that said, ‘Leanne and West, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, June 16, 2012?’ When I turned around, West was on one knee with the whole restaurant cheering him on as he proposed. Before he even put the ring on my finger, the curtains to the upstairs flew open and all of our family and friends were there waiting to celebrate with us. It was fantastic!” Nice work, Mr. Gotcher. The pair’s June wedding, with its “crisp, clean, summery” feel and Who Made The Cake creations—including a surprise groom’s cake in the shape of West’s favorite boots—treated more than 500 guests to an evening of dining (chicken-fried steak and green-tomato sliders, anyone?), dancing and general merriment. Big thanks to Chris Bailey for images of this fresh and fabulous Houston wedding, and big congrats to Leanne and West!

An adorable bride and groom, a lovely fall day, a picturesque forest setting…and some truly fabulous photos. We’re enchanted by the simplicity and sweetness of Dominique and Brian’s Northgate Country Club wedding, with its touches of elegance–a gorgeous Edible Designs by Jessie wedding cake among them–and palette of creams and pinks. Dominique’s fresh and pretty makeup and lovely, lace-edged mantilla veil look just so picture-perfect in her wedding setting. Joy just radiates from these two, and their celebrating guests, doesn’t it? Thanks to Joseph West Photography for great photos of this charming wedding fête, and congratulations to the newlyweds!

It’s tricky to get a bright, multi-colored wedding palette right. And so spectacular when it’s successful. Kristin and Jason’s irrepressibly colorful wedding at the Houston Country Club makes magnificent use of just about every color in the rainbow, and manages to do so with effortless elegance and sophistication. How? By mixing tall, textured, riotously jewel-colored centerpieces with suspended monochromatic pomanders, hanging glass votive globes, unadorned gold chiavaris, a pale and pretty cake. We love how those cheerful pomanders are echoed beautifully by illuminated lanterns hanging from a fairy-lit tree on the venue’s grounds…a perfect spot for a Mr.-and-Mrs. smooch. Congratulations, Kristin and Jason, on your willingness to go wild with color…and, most importantly, on your blessed union!

Take one gracious country club, add hundreds of perfect roses in uncountable shades of cream and pale pink, accent with touches of crystal, glass, wood and silver, stir in one lovestruck couple, and serve. If it sounds like the recipe for a perfect Houston wedding, we can attest that yes, it most certainly is. In this case, the floral and decor firm behind all the pretty is the wonderful Events in Bloom, and the couple is Kelsey and Matthew, who were kind enough to share their special day with us—thank you, and congratulations!
