After meeting through mutual friends, Michael and Kelley found themselves smitten with each other, right from the get-go. Their connection soon turned into romance, and after five happy years, Michael decided it was time to make things official. One fateful day after brunch, Michael and Kelley took their dog, Dunkin, out for a walk…which ultimately turned into a memory Kelley will always cherish, after Kelley noticed a pink heart tag on the dog’s collar that read, “Mom, can we keep him?” and on the other side, “Will you marry me?” OK, guys, how sweet is that? Michael’s creative proposal worked, and the following May, Kelley and Michael tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at the same church where the bride’s parents had been married. The pair’s spring Astorian wedding reception had it all, from the elegant decor and the spectacular city view, to fantastic entertainment and exquisite food. Their 275 guests were treated to the sublime cuisine of Cordúa Catering. “Cordúa Catering knocked it out of the park,” notes the bride. “They provided the traditional carving station with some fun, modern options like the Mac & Cheese Bar, the Raw Seafood Bar, and a Salad Wall.” Yum! Yet the best moment for Kelley and Michael was “…The Astorian’s view of the sunset on downtown Houston. It was breathtaking and a moment we will never forget!” Congratulations to you both!
Former high-school friends Andrea and Matt went their separate ways after school–Matt to the Marines, Andrea to college then to work on a cruise ship. And it wasn’t until a full 14 years later that they reconnected at the funeral for a mutual friend’s father, and discovered they had both relocated to Houston. After hanging out casually for awhile, Matt finally worked up the courage to ask Andrea out on a “real” date. “He really had some game!” Andrea recounts, noting that her future husband was “a true Southern gentleman.” Showing up each time “in a spotless, freshly washed truck, he picked me up for concerts, dinners out, movies, and he even sent me flowers!” she says. While finding time to plan their wedding was the biggest challenge for attorney Andrea and mechanical engineer Matt, they managed to pull off the celebration of a lifetime at The Astorian. Surrounded by a rich, wintry wedding color palette of burgundy, navy and gold, the pair and their 220 guests feasted on fried-oyster nachos, stuffed pork tenderloin and mascarpone mashed potatoes from Cordúa Catering, along with a six-tier bride’s cake and a U.S. Marine-theme groom’s cake, both from Cakes By Gina. We’re grateful to newlyweds Andrea and Matt for sharing their burgundy and gold winter wedding, and their love story, with us. Thanks, too, to Ama By Aisha for the lovely photos of Andrea and Matt’s burgundy and gold winter wedding celebration!
In the words of Houston wedding expert Shari Costigan, of planning firm Events De Luxe, “A great idea can be a beautiful thought, but once it becomes realized, it can be a breathtaking moment.” We could not agree more. Costigan’s purple and gold styled wedding shoot with Wedding in Houston partners Sandlewood Manor, Cakes By Gina and Civic Photos, is an awesome example of a vision coming to life in glorious, gorgeous color and texture. Scroll down for more lovely moments from Civic Photos, as models Jasmine and Joey explore a purple, green and gold wedding fantasyscape, set on the grounds of Tomball’s dreamy plantation-inspired venue. Sarah and Humberto’s Houston garden wedding has it all, y’all. There’s the beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony surrounded by friends, family and sunshine, at indoor-outdoor Houston wedding venue Hughes Manor. There’s the chic navy, blush and gold wedding palette, executed in elegant style inside Hughes Manor’s modern-vintage interior. And there’s the TDF wedding cake from Cakes By Gina, with its metallic stacks and floral accents. Seriously, it’s just a flat-out fabulous Houston garden wedding, and we can’t get enough (kinda like the guests couldn’t get enough of those insane crab puff tostadas from Cordúa Catering…OMG, yum!!). Thank you, Sarah and Humberto for sharing your incredibly special day with us. Wishing you a lifetime of love, joy…and dancing. xo Click here to read the rest of this post »
