Blush, Gold, Gray & Silver Wedding at The Astorian by Ama Photography & Cinema

“We wanted a wedding like nothing any of our guests had ever been to,” says Houston bride Meagan, who tied the knot with handsome Brett at an all-out swanky celebration at The Astorian. “We decided to go against tradition and have a big party instead. Our setup was more of a lounge feel. We had passed appetizers, dessert and treats, along with serviced food stations. The bar was open from the moment you arrived. We wanted people to have a great time from beginning to end and I think we succeeded at that!” So do we, Meagan…so do we. “Our favorite moment is when my brother, the officiant, had us actually turn around during the ceremony and look at all of our loved ones surrounding us. I will never forget that moment and seeing all of our guests smiling back at us.” Luckily, she’ll also enjoy the moment, and all the moments of her incredible day, in photographs by Aisha Khan of Ama Photography & Cinema. Coral, Gold & Ivory Wedding at The Crystal Ballroom at The Rice

“I suppose time is a better friend of mine than I thought. Right when I was focused on doing me, fate sent me a friend, partner, confidant and love all in one—Rebekah,” says Rasauli. Rebekah—personal trainer and nutritionist of Be a 10 Fitness—stole Rasauli’s heart within moments of them meeting, and he was determined to make her his wife.

Rebekah tells us how it all went down. “We went to Brennan’s Houston to celebrate our anniversary that was coming up. Our table was located in a private room, which was covered in rose petals. The chef came to the table and said that he prepared a special menu for us. In the middle of dinner, Rasauli asked to be excused from the table. At this point I was trying not to get too excited! I just knew he was going to come back with a ring—but instead he came back with an anniversary card. I was so disappointed, and I told him that I was expecting him to propose. He grabbed my hand and told me that I have to be patient. Right then, the waiter came by with a large covered ‘dessert’ dish. Once he removed the lid, I found a diamond ring! Before I knew it, he was down on one knee and my dad came from behind me to give me a hug.”

The lovebirds tied the knot at the Crystal Ballroom at The Rice with a 150 of their closest family and friends in attendance. “We wanted an elegant wedding with a classic New Orleans twist. We incorporated special dances and umbrellas, and had our guests involved, which created such a fun environment. My favorite moments include our first dance, the ‘second line’ dance, and when my matron of honor sung a special song for me,” says Rebekah.

Pastel and Gold Wedding by Serendipity Photography

There’s nothing like the Red River Rivalry…or a true love story that comes from it. Anne and Jacob met during the TX-OU Weekend—a very important longtime tradition where the Texas Longhorns go up against rivals the Oklahoma Sooners in a football showdown at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Anne and her girlfriends were at Hotel ZaZa Dallas taking part in the typical rivalry weekend activities, which included trying to capture a photo with one of the live gold statues. Ah, and here comes Jacob…a chivalrous knight in shining armor offering to be their impromptu photographer. In that moment, Anne and Jacob each found the one. Let’s fast-forward and set the scene a few years later: Anne and Jacob are now living together. One exceptionally normal day at home, Anne is doing a little laundry…when she hears Jacob having a very interesting conversation on the phone with his father (Jacob had no clue Anne was home listening). So, doing what any girl would do in this situation…Anne comes around the corner to see what he’s up to and offers a simple, “Hi,” totally taking Jacob by surprise! Anne remembers, “He stopped dead in his tracks, looking guilty, quickly told his dad he would call him back and stuffed a box into his bag.” Oh, Jacob. However, Jacob was so excited to make Anne his wife that he just couldn’t wait any longer and popped the question right there. Anne was absolutely floored…and of course said yes! The two had an incredible Houston wedding celebration, which began with a delicious rehearsal dinner at Brennan’s, and commenced with a beautiful church ceremony followed by a reception at, of course, Hotel ZaZa! Anne and Jacob truly cherish Hotel ZaZa, and are in total agreement that the chic Museum District property is “practically our second home.” Their pastel and gold wedding was simply to die for. The celebration was made perfectly complete with a decadent and detailed four-tiered cake (and a Superman-theme groom’s cake!) by Who Made The Cake, and some seriously breathtaking floral designs and crystal decor by Plants N’ Petals (do you see these centerpieces right now?!). Anne wore a stunning Lazaro mermaid gown from Ivory Bridal Atelier down the aisle and, let’s face it, she looked gorgeous! Thank you to Serendipity Photography for capturing the night so perfectly. Not all love stories start off with instant attraction. Just ask Callie, who did not hit it off with Eric when they first met at McGrady’s Pub in Charlottesville, Virginia during the Georgia vs. Florida game. Since they were rooting for opposing teams, Callie was, naturally, NOT a fan of Eric. “I would visit Charlottesville occasionally and he would always come over and ask if I wanted to get a drink with him. I refused,” Eric’s future bride says. Although she consistently turned him down, Eric was determined to get her to go out with him. He eventually reached out through Facebook, which turned into phone calls, FaceTime chats and finally the first date. Which turned into the second date. Then the third, fourth…twenty-seventh, etc. Until that magical day when Callie walked down the aisle in a gorgeous lace Anna Maier gown from Joan Pillow Bridal Salon, accessorized with her mom’s veil, sister’s bridal sash and grandmother’s rosary in her bouquet. “Our wedding was exactly what we wanted,” recounts Callie. “It was such a wonderful feeling to look at each other, know that we were married and surrounded by so many people who love us.” It’s true.
