When Devin first noticed Rachel, she was already wearing a white dress and veil. At the time, the pair were just 13 years old, but even still, Devin knew he’d marry that girl someday. And that’s exactly what he did! While Devin and Rachel dated for a few months, about a year later, they broke up because of the long-distance. But, in typical millennial fashion, Devin and Rachel connected through social media again in 2017. “One DM on Instagram, and less than a year later, we were engaged!” said Rachel.

The proposal was nothing short of magical. The couple was on a trip to the US Virgin Islands when Devin had Rachel follow a fun scavenger hunt, hop on a boat, and venture to a private island. With the whole beach to themselves, Devin popped the question, and Rachel happily said yes! With such a thoughtful, intimate engagement, it only fits that their wedding was the same.

Romantic Garden Wedding at Hotel Galvez

Daniel knew the moment he met Stephanie that there was something special about her; within a matter of months, the pair had become great friends. But when Stephanie moved to Mexico to study abroad, she assumed that she had “fallen off his radar,” and they lost touch. A few years later, when Stephanie was living in Houston as a teacher, the couple reconnected in a way that took Stephanie by surprise: “He would call and we would talk for hours,” recounts the bride. “So much time had passed that I was convinced we were going to pick up where we left off as friends, but I was wrong.” Turns out, Daniel had been in love with Stephanie all along, and was just waiting for the perfect opportunity to re-enter her life. The lovebirds tied the knot surrounded by 150 of their nearest and dearest in a beautiful garden ceremony at Hotel Galvez, followed by a romantic champagne brunch on the terrace. The day was made even more special by the presence of the bride’s father, a disabled Vietnam veteran, who was released from the hospital only days before the wedding: “My favorite moment was my dad walking me down the aisle as my mom held him up on his other side,” says Stephanie. “It was a true fairy tale—I married the man of my dreams and my dad was able to give me away.” We’re so happy for you, Daniel and Stephanie!

Sanctuary Cap Cana Destination Wedding by Adam Nyholt

WEDDINGS IN HOUSTON SPRING 2015 | REAL WEDDING FEATURE

Brooke & Austin ~ November 23, 2013

Like their Aruba engagement, high-school sweethearts Brooke and Austin’s destination wedding was set in a stunning seaside locale. The couple joined 75 of their closest friends and family at the Dominican Republic’s luxurious Sanctuary Cap Cana for a weekend celebration full of sun, sand and spectacular ocean views. The pair’s ceremony took place on a private island, where a white-linen-draped, orchid-bedecked chuppah “was the perfect backdrop to say, ‘I do!’” the bride notes.  For their reception, the couple treated guests to a light-up dance floor where everyone let loose—they were on vacation, after all! “Our favorite memory of the wedding day was how laid back it was,” Brooke says. “It was so easy to just take a deep breath and truly enjoy our special day.”
