Marika + William
“It was so special, just the two of us,” says Marika of William’s proposal in a beautifully decorated room at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. “The rest of our families surprised us by traveling into town for the occasion, so we all met after the proposal for a wonderful dinner together.” While planning her marriage celebration, “Everyone kept asking me what the ‘theme’ was, and I was always confused by the question,” the bride says. “Our ‘theme’ was…wedding!” Her vision: white flowers, a white dance floor and white table linens, “and Jim Gray [of Grayhouse Events Atelier] made all of those dreams come to life.” At the end of the post-ceremony cocktail hour, the band played “In The Mood” as the guests were seated for dinner. “They learned the song specifically for us—such a treat!” Marika says. As the evening’s festivities wound down, “I requested ‘This Will Be’ as the last song, and everyone gathered around William and me and tossed gold confetti as we danced. All of the guests then exited the ballroom for us to have a private dance with the band. They played ‘Midnight Train to Georgia’ (our favorite duet karaoke song) and this was all a surprise to William! It was so special to have the ballroom to ourselves, dancing on the fallen confetti, and just having a minute to soak in all the emotions of the evening before our departure.”
