I’m Megan from Greetings from Texas<\/a>! I’m a writer\/blogger living in Houston’s Medical Center. My husband, Danny, and I eloped*<\/strong> five years ago (come\u00a0May)\u00a0so we never got to have that full out, kit and\u00a0caboodle of a wedding. Because Danny had been married once before and I’d been engaged, we wanted to sneak away discreetly to tie the knot as, clearly, we’d had our fill of wedding\u00a0related\u00a0drama. =)<\/p>\n Five years later, however, it’s a different story. We’re now living in the era of Pinterest! Instagram! Blogs! With their influence, along with some\u00a0distance from our past relationships,\u00a0I’ve got a dream wedding inside my head that’s dying to\u00a0get out.\u00a0This is what it will look like when it comes to full fruition.<\/p>\n *Note: <\/strong>I’m using the term “elope” loosely. We did invite our immediate families to our wedding at The Four Seasons in Austin<\/a>. They were sworn to secrecy however and prohibited from telling friends or extended family members!<\/p>\n What My Vow Renewal Will Entail<\/strong><\/p>\n The Dress:<\/strong> I eloped in a white, strapless, cocktail\u00a0dress from White House Black Market<\/a>. I didn’t even like it but because I didn’t want to wear a formal wedding dress,\u00a0my options were slim. This was a pre-BHLDN<\/a> era! This time around, part\u00a0of me thinks I\u00a0should don\u00a0the same\u00a0dress\u00a0and make it more likeable with accessories; gloves, a veil<\/a>, jewelry, etc.\u00a0The other part of me says “ah, screw it” and just\u00a0wants to buy\u00a0this one<\/a>. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Flower Girl & Ring Bearer:<\/strong> Danny and I have adopted one child and one pet since we married 5 years ago. Booker, our dog\u00a0who we got from a Chicago shelter, will be our ring bearer. Chances are he’ll never make it down the aisle but we’ll roll with it.\u00a0Our beautiful baby girl, Macy, came to us just four months ago through an Austin adoption agency. (More details about\u00a0her\u00a0adoption here<\/a> on my\u00a0blog.) <\/strong><\/p>\n The Cake:<\/strong> Chocolate for me. Carrot for him. <\/strong><\/p>\n The Wedding Photographer: <\/strong>Paige Budde of Awake Photography\u2013<\/strong>she\u2019s a personal friend.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Location:<\/strong> Something\u00a0al fresco and on a ranch; perhaps Old Glory Ranch<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n DIY:<\/strong> Last time around we DIY’ed our invitations and programs. It’d be\u00a0more\u00a0work this time around\u00a0with a significantly larger guest list but I’m up for the\u00a0challenge.<\/p>\n Wedding Song:<\/strong> Last time around there was no DJ or band – just an IPod playing music\u00a0throughout dinner.\u00a0We got up and danced, however,\u00a0when\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9’s “Irreplaceable”<\/a> came on, unintentionally making\u00a0it our wedding song.\u00a0This time around we’ll\u00a0dance to even more Beyonc\u00e9 songs, in addition to tunes by her hubby!<\/p>\n And that y’all, concludes what I’m envisioning.
