Michael and Shane met on the pickleball courts of an LGBTQ+ sports organization in Houston. Determined not to lose touch, Shane found Michael on Instagram and four days later, after spending hours on FaceTime, the pair had their first date.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two spent the entire day together, beginning at a Houston restaurant and ending with an Astros game.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On their first anniversary, Michael brought Shane back to the restaurant where it all began. Throughout dinner, playful gestures, including a cheeky fake-out proposal, kept Shane guessing. But as they strolled near Houston’s Lost Lake, Michael dropped to one knee and proposed. After Shane’s joyful “yes,” restaurant employees, secretly in on the plan, emerged from nearby bushes with cameras to capture every moment.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wedding weekend began with an intimate rehearsal dinner at The Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa,<\/a> with family and friends. On May 17, 2025, Michael and Shane pledged their love beneath the soaring columns of the Corinthian Houston<\/a>. Walker Chancey with Regina Gust Designs<\/a> transformed the venue with white florals and elegant black and white d\u00e9cor for a chic, timeless atmosphere.  Their son, Hartley, chose the song, \u201cAin’t No Mountain High Enough,\u201d sung by Ben Chavez as the two grooms walked down the aisle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a nod to their southern heritage, Michael and Shane made a grand entrance to their reception with a lively second line parade, with the traditional masks and umbrellas. The couple began their new life with a honeymoon in Mykonos and Santorini, Greece.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
