Outdoors-In Houstonian Hotel Wedding by Adam Nyholt

Let’s face it: Houston’s not always the most hospitable city for an al fresco wedding celebration. Which is why we love when a couple brings the best of the outdoors in. Morgan and Carson, who we first featured back in June, when they shared their lovely engagement session with us—also shot by the exceptional Adam Nyholt—transformed The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa ballroom into a lush garden, with the masterful floral work of Events in Bloom. We adore the palette of white, cream and green, the beautiful roses and voluptuous hydrangeas, the wrought iron accents and flickering candles. And that ceiling treatment? Incredible. In her Monique Lhuillier gown from Joan Pillow, Morgan looks like a magnificent flower herself. We’re so happy to feature this stunning wedding. And so happy for Morgan and Carson!

HWB Inspiration Board: White on Not-Quite-White

In the Western tradition, white is and will ever be the color of weddings. But there’s white, and then there’s white-on-not-quite-white. We tend to be fans of the latter. Here’s an idea: Start with a glorious white wedding dress (like the ridiculously romantic Sierra, below, from Amsale’s Blue Label Collection). Add hints of cream, soft green, palest yellow or petal pink. Toss in a touch of gold shimmer or silver sparkle. Arrange lovingly with a focus on texture and classic elegance. And there you have it–white done right.

Sweet Red, White & Blue Wedding by DC Stanley Photography

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: We love a bride who isn’t afraid of a little color. Take Lisa, for instance, who walked down the aisle carrying a bouquet of intense red roses to wed her beloved Ben. Beautiful, right? Even more beautiful is the combination of snow white, rich red and bright aqua blue—the palette of choice at this adorable couple’s ranch reception. We especially love those cylinder centerpieces by Clear Lake Flowers, so simple, so elegant, so WOW. Kudos to fine Houston photographer David Stanley of DC Stanley Photography, whose awesome shots are featured here.

Chic & Cool Crystal Ballroom Wedding by Adam Nyholt

Bride Sunni is such a breath of fresh air, don’t you think? We love her fabulous style—a little retro, a little glam, and definitely not afraid to have a little fun with her wedding day. And what a wedding day! She and groom Jason celebrated in high style with 300 of their nearest and dearest at the twinkling Crystal Ballroom at the Rice, mixing sleek elegance (like willowy centerpieces from Blooming Gallery) with the unbridled whimsy of a topsy-turvy wedding cake. In-demand Houston photographer Adam Nyholt shared this awesome wedding with us, and we’re sharing his equally awesome photos of it with you. Enjoy!

Sweet Tooth: Little White Wedding Bites

Vintage Dessert Displays

We know a gal who swears that as a toddler she went through a phase where she’d only eat white food. Cottage cheese, rice, white bread. That sort of thing. Now that she’s all grown up, our formerly finicky friend has expanded her culinary tastes exponentially. Thank goodness, too. Because white food is blah food.

Except when it’s dessert. Wedding dessert, in particular. Picture a post-meal sweets spread, filled with exquisite goodies in different wedding-white shades from snow to cream, beckoning guests to dig in. Pretty, right? Especially when displayed on lovely, vintage-inspired tiered dessert trays and cake plates like these. Have your cake…and eat lots of other yummy desserts, too, we say!
