Blush, Ivory and Gold Wedding at the Bell Tower on 34th Street

Houston bride Meagan instantly fell in love with the grand Italian-villa-inspired architecture of The Bell Tower on 34^th Street, which perfectly complemented her soft, romantic color palette of blush, ivory and gold. “I loved the beautiful carved-wood chapel doors, and had a vision of a grand entrance,” she says. “My fondest moment was when the bell tower rang, the doors opened and we locked eyes as I walked down the aisle.” Meagan wore a gorrrgeous drop-waist, lace bridal gown from Brickhouse Bridal with glittery gold Jimmy Choo pumps, of course. “I had a patient in the ER that needed massive transfusion of blood products. Andrew was working in the blood bank that night. We exchanged simple conversation but I couldn’t stop thinking about him. I messaged him on Facebook a few weeks later, basically asking for a date. He text messaged me the next morning and we’ve been together ever since,” says Houston bride Lenee. Houston bride Kristi went to town on planning the details for her candlelit, garden-inspired, beautiful wedding at The Gallery. Kristi carefully thought out every single detail, from the wax-sealed vintage programs, to rose-folded vanilla napkins, to spending months collecting wine bottles to hand make soy wax candles for the guests! Kristi and her groom, Ross chose a soft color palette of blush, ivory, gold, and hints of mint that filled the room for a romantic setting. There were not one, but FIVE different white-on-white cakes, custom macaroni and cheese bar, AND a late night doughnut station for the guests to indulge in. Boho-Chic, Rustic Austin Mansion Wedding

“Our design aim was to discover the intersection between what Barr Mansion had already so beautifully curated and where we found our personality within that,” says bride Jenna of her wedding to adorable Nathan at Austin’s foodie-focused wedding venue. “We took the antique, rustic, free-spirit, artistic, creative, comfortable and natural beauty that was already there and built on that with homegrown flowers, handcrafted centerpieces, personalized paper-cut banners, unique music, DIY’d accent pieces, and a relaxing, lounge-style reception atmosphere.” Even the day’s wet weather was a welcome happenstance. “My mom mentioned that it had rained on her wedding day, and Nathan remarked how the drizzly gray weather looked exactly like where he grew up in Alaska.” We’re delighted to share with you this sweet couple’s lovely wedding, featuring coordination by Kat Creech Events and flowers by Dream Bouquet—make sure to check out more from this talented team of top Houston wedding vendors in the new issue of Weddings in Houston (“Opulence Among the Oaks,” p. 216), on newsstands now!

Blush, Gold and Ivory 1920’s Inspired Wedding with Bonus Fake-Audition Proposal Story!

Oooo, honey, you KNOW how much we love a good “proposal deception” story…and Ryan popping the question to Melissa is one of the best we’ve heard! “My sister, who is an aspiring actress, will often go on auditions and invite me (the bride) along with her. I always go along for support, so when she invited me to come along to an audition for an independent film, I did not hesitate. The audition was at Hotel Derek, there were signs welcoming those auditioning, sign-up sheets, and she was even assigned a number. I prayed with her in the lobby and all of the staff were rooting for her! She was super nervous so she asked if I could come back and actually watch her audition. When we were given the OK, I entered the room, and saw Ryan standing there all dressed up while I stood there confused. My sister was gone, it was only us and he got on one knee. There were candles and rose petals all around. It was perfect!” Ah, the old sibling’s-fake-film-audition ruse…gets ’em every time. Even cuter? “Our families were in another room watching it all happen on Skype.” Aww. The pair, who met four years ago while both working as nurses on the same Houston Medical Center unit and quickly became inseparable, tied the knot this past spring, with a breathtakingly beautiful 1920s-inspired wedding, decorated in fine vintage fashion by Houston fave Darryl & Co. We’re so grateful to this adorable pair for sharing their love with all of us, and all y’all…congratulations, Melissa and Ryan!
