Blush Pink, Gold & Ivory Wedding at Chateau Cocomar by DC Stanley

WEDDINGS IN HOUSTON FALL 2014 | REAL WEDDING FEATURE

Michelle and Chris ~ September 14, 2013

While Michelle admits that meeting Chris as a high-school senior “was not love at first sight, as I was not looking for a boyfriend,” her future husband’s persistence paid off. Seven years after they met, the couple joined together in matrimony, with an elegant wedding in Chateau Cocomar’s magnificent castle-like setting, complete with marble floors and twinkling chandeliers. Michelle’s chosen palette of soft neutrals and a hint of blush pink created an air of timeless romance—the perfect backdrop for the newlyweds’ first dance (Michelle’s favorite wedding memory), and every moment thereafter. At the night’s close, guests held aloft 20-inch-long sparklers as Mr. and Mrs. O’Malley shared a kiss.

WEDDINGS IN HOUSTON FALL 2014 | REAL WEDDING FEATURE

Lisa and Donald ~ January 19, 2014

While their Match.com introduction might not be the essence of tradition, Don’s request to Lisa’s dad for permission to marry his daughter certainly was. “After getting my dad’s blessing, he dropped to one knee and I said, ‘Yes!’” recalls the bride—who also happens to be director of catering and conferences for one of Houston’s most revered wedding venues: The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. Naturally, the couple wed at Lisa’s longtime place of employment, aided in planning by the hotel’s social catering manager, Jim Gray. Highlights of the joyful occasion included a ceremony filled with poignant readings by the couple’s many family members. Avid foodies both, Don and Lisa incorporated wine pairings into their lavish menu, and treated guests to exquisite desserts, almond-and-raspberry wedding cake, and postprandial cigars. “My favorite part of the night was singing and dancing with my niece and goddaughter Caroline to—yes—‘Sweet Caroline,’ by Neil Diamond,” Lisa recalls happily. “The entire room joined in!”

Golden, Ivory, and Plum Rustic Wedding at Ashton Gardens by Joshua Tyi Photography

Kayla and Billy met during her freshman year at East Texas Baptist University at a mentoring event. “He came over to talk to me and I was too shy. He tried and tried all night and I still wouldn’t talk to him,” says Kayla. Although she did not give Billy any attention at the event, as soon as she went home Kayla did what every girl would do: told her roommate everything! They soon started a Facebook search for Billy and sent a friend request, which led to messaging and eventually dating. Billy set up a sweet proposal adventure for Kayla while riding a four-wheeler on his best friend’s land. The lovebirds read through their journal and scriptures underneath a tree adorned with candles and mason jars (AWW!). Before Kayla could get through the second page, Billy was on one knee ready to propose. If you think their proposal story is sweet, just wait ‘til you see the gorgeous photos of their rustic-chic wedding at Ashton Gardens! Thanks Joshua Tyi for the amazing photos and congratulations to the lovely newlyweds!

Vintage Blush and Gold Wedding at Ashton Gardens

Houston bride Tera first met her prince charming right around the corner- literally. Tera and Shawn lived in the same neighborhood, attended the same schools, and shared mutual friends. It wasn’t until he came back home from the Air Force 11 years later that they reunited at their best friend’s wedding. Tera and Shawn hit it off and the rest was history. The lovebirds celebrated with 80 of their nearest and dearest at one of Houston’s most unique wedding venues- Ashton Gardens. The romantic chandeliers and color palette of blush, cream and gold set the tone for their vintage wedding. Congrats and well wishes to the newlyweds!

Classic Ivory, Merlot and Blush Wedding by Sarah Ainsworth Photography

From its serene gold-accented palette, to its seasonal menu of roasted corn chowder and beef tenderloin with wild-mushroom-and-onion risotto, to its crystal chandeliers and soft candlelight, Hayley and Jeffrey’s fall wedding is pretty much a perfect example of how to do fall elegance fabulously. The couple, who met on a blind date (!!)—which led to a second date the very next day—wanted their marriage celebration to be not just full of love, but utterly timeless. We think they did both, beautifully. And we’ve got the gorgeous photos by super-talented Houston photographer Sarah Ainsworth to prove it. Congratulations, Hayley & Jeffrey!
