Miami Summer Engagement Shoot By Civic Photos

“Gary and I met in New Orleans in August of 2013,” Erin says. “I always joke that it was love at first sight because the night we first met we also shared our first kiss. I was working in New Orleans as a local television broadcaster and Gary was visiting from Nashville on a brief work trip. It was truly serendipity that we ever crossed paths, but from the moment it happened we became inseparable. Five years later, we are planning the wedding of our dreams [Dec. 8, 2018] in Winter Park, Fla. As much as we love the sophisticated romance of our wedding venue and our first engagement shoot, we wanted to create some intimate and authentic images that capture our life in Miami. For our second engagement shoot with Houston-based Civic Photos we visited Española Way, a colorful and vibrant part of South Beach. This is a place we’ll visit for lunch and people-watching on the weekends. We finished the shoot at the modern and luxurious COMO Metropolitan Hotel. We love the Art Deco interior design of the rooms and the tropical-oasis vibes by the pool. The session was a blast to create and we could not be more pleased with the final images. No matter what the future holds for us or where we might live, we will always have these memories of Miami captured through the lens of Civic Photos.” Let’s take a closer look, shall we?? Miami Beach Engagement Shoot By Civic Photos

The story behind Peter and Emelie’s Miami Beach engagement shoot is one of risk-taking, romance and resilience. Peter was living on the Caribbean island of St. Barts when he came across Emelie on Tinder. “She was visiting from Sweden and was on the neighboring island of St Martin,” Peter explains. “I bought her a boat ticket and shipped her right over. We hit it off AMAZINGLY!” A year later, the couple was living on St. Barts when Hurricane Irma barreled down on them, destroying their home and forcing them to flee. “It was a terrifying experience, to say the least,” Peter says. Fortunately, Peter and Emelie were able to find an apartment near the beach in Delray, Fla. And photographer Barett Henry, of Houston-based Civic Photos, was able to capture the essence of the “paradise” they had left behind, in their lovely Miami Beach engagement shoot. “Barett found such a beautiful location for us to shoot at, on the sands of Miami Beach, with a tropical vibe that takes me back to where we first met on St. Barts in the Caribbean,” Emelie says. “I especially love the photographs of Peter and me by the rooftop pool, with the high-rises and big-city feel that our new life in South Florida offers, in the background.” Big thanks to Civic Photos for sharing these sublime images, and to Peter and Emelie for sharing their harrowing, and, ultimately, happy, love story! Starting out as friendly acquaintances at work, ShaQuita and Calvin’s relationship grew following a night out with friends. As they stayed up until five in the morning, it was clear sparks were flying between them, and it wasn’t long before their friendship turned into romance. Five happy years later, Calvin decided ShaQuita was the one for him, and enlisted the help of her mother with his surprise proposal. At a family crawfish boil, “surrounded by family and friends that were all in on it,” the future bride said, “Yes,” through tears of joy. Along with 50 close friends and family, ShaQuita and Calvin made their way to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for a beautiful beach destination wedding. “We were looking for a tropical getaway, especially since Calvin loves the beach,” says the bride. Following their sweet beach ceremony, the lovebirds and their guests feasted on grilled salmon with sweet potatoes and enjoyed serenades from a mariachi band. “The sunset was perfect!” recalls ShaQuita. “If we could do it all over again we wouldn’t change a thing.” See for yourself this lovely couple’s festivities, captured by the talented Houston wedding photography studio Civic Photos!
