Mosquitos. Guacamole. A clever ruse. Oh, how we love a zany proposal story: “I told Shane I wanted to wait until I officially had a degree to be engaged,” says Joanna. “He waited exactly a week after I graduated. We had talked about going on a hike, and finally planned it for that weekend. While on our hike there there were so many mosquitos it looked like a dark fog was following us. We ran out of the woods with about 30 bites each laughing so hard (with me not realizing his proposal plan was falling apart). We found an area that was mosquito-free, sat down for a picnic, and then Shane told me he had something for me. I got extremely suspicious that he was proposing. He proposed at Walt Disney World. They honeymooned on a Disney cruise. Do we sense a theme here? Absolutely, says bride Sarah, who wore a Disney-princess-worthy tiara for her Ashton Gardens wedding to high-school sweetheart Robbie. The pair, both of them former Walt Disney World employees, treated guests to such Disney-inspired delights as a signature “True Love’s Kiss” martini, featuring a pink-sugared rim, and a choreographed first dance to a waltz taken from Disney World’s Wishes Fireworks Spectacular. The bride’s most treasured memory? “Our special unity candle,” Sarah says. “We invited all of our guest who have helped shape our lives to join us in the lighting of the candle. It made for a beautiful and touching ceremony to make eye contact with each row of guests.”

Kayla and Billy met during her freshman year at East Texas Baptist University at a mentoring event. “He came over to talk to me and I was too shy. He tried and tried all night and I still wouldn’t talk to him,” says Kayla. Although she did not give Billy any attention at the event, as soon as she went home Kayla did what every girl would do: told her roommate everything! They soon started a Facebook search for Billy and sent a friend request, which led to messaging and eventually dating. Billy set up a sweet proposal adventure for Kayla while riding a four-wheeler on his best friend’s land. The lovebirds read through their journal and scriptures underneath a tree adorned with candles and mason jars (AWW!). Before Kayla could get through the second page, Billy was on one knee ready to propose.
