Evie was in Chicago, and Victor in Guatemala. How did the pair meet? It just so happens that Victor was her aunt’s neighbor in Guatamela. During her childhood, Evie spent many summers visiting her aunt, and eventually became friends with Victor. Their childhood friendship lead them to their first kiss at age 13 (aww). Unfortunately, Victor lost touch with Evie after he moved to Texas when he was 15. A few years later the young lovebirds reconnected, and made sure not to let each other go. One sweet summer night in Chicago (the night before her birthday), Evie and Victor ventured out to the pier on Lake Michigan to watch the Blood Moon. It caught her by surprise when Victor got down on one knee at midnight. You can guess what happened next!
The pair tied the knot at The Bell Tower on 34th in front of 75 of their nearest and dearest. The room was filled with blush and peach roses, Casablanca lilies and garden roses, all of which set a romantic tone for their classic, intimate wedding celebration. We couldn’t help but wipe our tears after seeing the beautiful photos of this elegant Houston wedding, and are sure you will, too. Congrats and best wishes to the lovely couple!

A last-minute email and some amazing luck ultimately brought Gabrielle and John together forever. Gabrielle had been using Match.com for nearly two years. John had been active for only two weeks. Gabrielle was “over it,” but John was certainly not over her. After ignoring his emails, Gabrielle decided to go out on a limb and respond to John before canceling her subscription to the dating app, and she sure was glad she did! The couple was inseparable from that first date on. “He literally was my last date off Match. Little did I know it would be my last date period,” Gabrielle says.
Fast forward: Gabrielle and John celebrated their perfect wedding day at the stunning Houston wedding venue Chateau Cocomar, which perfectly captured Gabrielle’s theme of “elegance and glitz with a sprinkle of over-the-top.” But, in typical Houston fashion, the skies opened up and drenched their dream venue. For an instant the couple’s luck had seemed to fade…
But don’t worry, this story has a happy ending! The team at J’Adore Events was able to save the day and seamlessly pull off the wedding of Gabrielle and John’s dreams, with a regal navy, ivory and gold wedding color palette, a five-tier wedding cake, and treats featuring the couple’s favorite snack—popcorn from The Popcorn Bar! “I wanted a wedding that pampered my guests and had them wanting for nothing,” Gabrielle says. It’s safe to say she succeeded. Congratulations, Gabrielle & John, we wish you a lifetime of love!

Asmita and Rishab kicked off the New Year with a marriage celebration that perfectly captured the couple’s exuberant personalities and Hindu culture. Asmita says it was their “shared love of music and dancing” that initially attracted her to Rishab, and vice versa, which they certainly expressed on their wedding day!
The night began with a lively sangeet, which Asmita says was “a very cool way to kick off the celebration, with killer dance performances by both sides of the family, mehndi artists and a selfie station.”
For their Hindu ceremony and reception celebration at The Corinthian, downtown Houston’s magnificent neoclassical event space, the couple selected a palette of bright plum and burgundy, brought to life with blooms by Darryl & Co. The couple’s 350 guests then enjoyed a wedding feast by renowned Jackson and Company catering, and later joined the newlyweds for a lavish party filled with live music and dancing that lasted until 1:30 a.m.

“We call our wedding our ‘fairytale wedding,’ because it truly was,” says bride Gina. “From the flowers, to the photographer, to the makeup, to our attire, to the music, to our guests…everything was just perfect.” Taking a DIY approach to their low-key, vintage-country celebration, Gina and Ryan planned their wedding together, treating friends and family to an intimate gathering where Texan touches abounded, and fun was the focus. As Gina explains, “We tried not to spend on things that we didn’t find special to us, and we invested in things that we found truly important. I got the dress I always dreamed of [a beautiful drop-waist, tiered Tara Keely from Weddings by Debbie], and Ryan loved his Vera Wang suit. We had our ceremony at a very small, intimate Methodist church with stained-glass windows and wooden pews. We used baby’s breath on the pews and for the bouquets and boutonnieres to create our vintage look. We took our pictures with our AMAZING photographer, Lindsay Elizabeth Strode of Lindsay Elizabeth Photography, outside of the church in a field that gave us such a fun, vintage country look…just what we were hoping to find. We then had our reception at local BBQ restaurant and dance hall, with hanging white lights from the celling, wood floors and bar, Texas country decor across the walls, and a big stage for the DJ to set up. We decorated with burlap and lace tablecloths, handmade mason jar centerpieces, and a green-theme candy bar, and we gave out personalized koozies. We danced the night away in our cowboy boots to our favorite music and favorite friends and family. We wouldn’t trade our wedding day for the world!”
Love what you see? Meet “amazing” photographer Lindsay Strode at Tuesday’s I Do! Wedding Soiree, and find out more about her beautiful photographic style…and available 2017 and 2018 dates. Rob and Nathan originally met through a dating app, but their love story didn’t start until one day at the Greek festival. It was a typical rainy day in Houston, but they didn’t let the wet weather ruin their fun. “We talked for hours, nibbled on some tasty food, and the rest was history,” recounts Rob. He knew in his heart this was it. “I planned an elaborate plan to surprise Nathan with a trip to San Francisco for his 30th birthday. We spent the next few days taking wine tours and soaking in the beauty of the California coast with our closest friends, who had joined us.” On the way back to the city, the couple pulled over to take a photo of the Golden Gate Bridge. “I pulled Nathan aside to express how sorry I was that I never bought him anything for his birthday, and asked him to give me more time,” says Rob. Little did he Nathan what was coming next! Rob pulled out the ring, got down on one knee and asked Nathan to marry him. The pair celebrated their wedding with their closest family and friends at a beautiful Hill Country ranch, where rough-hewn benches and white rose petals set the tone for the outdoor wedding ceremony, and accents of succulents and fresh greenery filled the reception room, illuminated by soft candlelight. Sigh. Just take a look at the stunning photos from their intimate wedding celebration by Binford Creative Photography—you’ll be swooning just like us. Congrats to the newlyweds, we wish you a lifetime of happiness!
