The Duchess of Sussex’s wedding to the Duke is behind this royal-wedding-inspired shoot, photographed by Jessica Frey Photography at majestic Houston wedding venue Chateau Cocomar. Located in the Champions area of North Houston, this European-modeled chateau offers the perfect backdrop for a styled wedding shoot full of regal romance. The story behind Peter and Emelie’s Miami Beach engagement shoot is one of risk-taking, romance and resilience. Peter was living on the Caribbean island of St. Barts when he came across Emelie on Tinder. “She was visiting from Sweden and was on the neighboring island of St Martin,” Peter explains. “I bought her a boat ticket and shipped her right over. We hit it off AMAZINGLY!” A year later, the couple was living on St. Barts when Hurricane Irma barreled down on them, destroying their home and forcing them to flee. “It was a terrifying experience, to say the least,” Peter says. Fortunately, Peter and Emelie were able to find an apartment near the beach in Delray, Fla. And photographer Barett Henry, of Houston-based Civic Photos, was able to capture the essence of the “paradise” they had left behind, in their lovely Miami Beach engagement shoot. “Barett found such a beautiful location for us to shoot at, on the sands of Miami Beach, with a tropical vibe that takes me back to where we first met on St. Barts in the Caribbean,” Emelie says. “I especially love the photographs of Peter and me by the rooftop pool, with the high-rises and big-city feel that our new life in South Florida offers, in the background.” Big thanks to Civic Photos for sharing these sublime images, and to Peter and Emelie for sharing their harrowing, and, ultimately, happy, love story! Oh Snap Selfie Photo Booth has an awesome selection of photo booth and photo sharing options for weddings and pre-wedding celebrations (bachelorette parties, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners…you get the picture ; ), that fit into any environment, from super-swanky to low-key and laid-back. We’re especially into their Boomerang GIF Booths and 3D Selfie Booths, both of which are “open air,” so everyone who wants to can check out your photo booth hijinks while they wait to make their own (slightly embarrassing, totally fun) memories. I think one thing all couples can agree on is that they want their wedding photos to be “timeless,” meaning they will still be appealing and in style (aside from fleeting fashion trends), five, 10 or 20 years from now. Probably the most important photography aspects for achieving this sense of timelessness—and ones I often see overlooked in wedding photography—are editing style and posing.
Of course, words like “timeless” and “stylish” are all relative. Everyone has their own definition of what is classic and enduring, and each individual couple has their own specific tastes. That said, I’ve been shooting weddings as a full-time profession for 10 years and I believe these are some of the things to consider when selecting a photographer who’ll give you photos that stand the test of time: Click here to read the rest of this post »
