Mothers have a knack for picking out things they are sure their daughter will like. Carrie’s mom knew that she would like James, and she was right. The two lovebirds instantly hit it off and the rest was history. James planned the perfect intimate proposal in the Four Seasons Houston Hotel private wine room and later joined friends and family who were waiting to celebrate in the main dining room. When planning their wedding, Carrie and James had a vision of their Hotel ZaZa wedding to feel like a fabulous, modern cocktail party, and that’s exactly what it was. “The décor had a modern feel to it with the main design theme being the absence of a color scheme. Instead, we chose to go with architectural light displays and black accents”, says Carrie. The reception was a party that you wouldn’t want to miss, and the guests fully enjoyed every bit of the band, comedian, cigar roller station, and caricature artist while nibbling on delish Nutella and chocolate chip cookies and mini coke floats! Sounds pretty amazing, right? Wait ‘til you see all the sweet pictures from Akil Bennett! Congrats and best wishes to the newlyweds!

Michelle & Renzo ~ November 9, 2013
“Who wants to go on a blind date, right? No one! What are the odds that a blind date will lead to a happy ending? Never!” says Michelle—who proved herself wrong, in the best way, by marrying Renzo, with whom she was set up by a mutual friend. The bride, who happens to be the owner of beloved West University gift-and-housewares boutique Blue Leaf, has a natural flair for gracious design, which her 300-guest wedding showed off beautifully. As celebratory as it was spectacular, Michelle and Renzo’s wedding also featured swings hung from the ceiling, confetti cannons, a cigar roller and an after-party, complete with disco-ball drop. WOW!! Congratulations to the happy couple, wishing you a lifetime of happiness!

What a NIGHT. Right?? If you were among the fortunate 300 Houston brides, bridesmaids, grooms and their guests who made the oh-so-savvy decision to snap up I Do! Bridal Soiree tickets while they lasted, last Thursday evening was a night to remember, indeed. On Thursday, Feb. 12, Weddings in Houston magazine presented the truly magnificent I Do! Bridal Soiree at The Corinthian. For three magical hours, attendees met with A-list Houston vendors [see full exhibitor list here!]; dined on sumptuous Mediterranean, Asian and Texas-inspired specialties courtesy of world-renowned Jackson and Company catering; sipped French Champagne and fine wine; enjoyed live entertainment and decadent treats; chatted with mingling models showing off the season’s most gorgeous couture wedding gowns; and, perhaps most thrillingly, wandered through a wonderland of weddingscapes featuring the artistry of Houston’s finest design experts. Whether you were one of our honored guests, or you plan to attend our Fall I Do! Bridal Soiree, coming Oct. 18 to the Four Seasons Hotel Houston–or BOTH–we welcome you to tour Civic Photos’ images of the I Do! Bridal Soiree at The Corinthian. And please join us in thanking Jackson and Company, The Corinthian, Civic Photos, A&A Video, LBL Event Rentals/Linens by Lisa, EB Inc Events, Southern Hospitality Coffee Company, Jonny Black Productions and Scott Graham Piano, for their fabulous contributions to the I Do! Bridal Soiree.
“It was very important to us that our wedding day reflect both of our cultural heritages and traditions. We are thrilled we were able to incorporate two very different ceremonies into one (very long) day!” says bride, Becky. The Hindu marriage ceremony took place in the morning at the Omni Houston Hotel, “Starting with a boisterous barat procession with Aneesh along with his family and friends joyously dancing their way to the mandap (marriage pavilion), and ending with an Indian feast for lunch,” adds Becky. The Catholic ceremony was held that same evening (yes, that same day) where Becky wore a stunning lace Martina Liana gown from Brickhouse Bridal. Becky and Aneesh wanted to transform their reception venue into a small Tuscan village in the Italian countryside. “Between the bouquets of peonies and hydrangeas, the candles that filled the room with a soft glow, the tables named after Italian places close to our hearts, the Prosecco and Chianti that flowed throughout the evening, and the delectable Italian dinner, we truly felt transported,” says Becky. If you think their wedding sounds beautiful, just wait ‘til you see the pics! Thank you Akil Bennett for the fabulous photos and congrats to the newlyweds!
