When Alison Wong and Blaine McElroy began planning their wedding, they knew they wanted a small, intimate affair. After meeting at their workplace where the two are trial consultants, the couple became engaged and got to work orchestrating a chic but simple spring celebration.
The night before the big day the couple hosted a rehearsal dinner in the Wine Vault of Voice Restaurant in downtown Houston’s magnificent Hotel ICON. The two celebrated with friends and family as the chef, a personal acquaintance, prepared a delicious meal table-side. The following day, the pair and their guests headed to Alsey’s Nest at Ouisie’s Table, the site of their nuptials.
“Our main priority was creating a chic but still laid-back environment in which our friends and family could relax, be themselves and just enjoy spending time together,” says the bride. “Ouisie’s Table has an inherent charm that was the perfect backdrop.”
Alison and Blaine said their vows before 40 guests in front of a vintage fireplace framed with cherry-tree branches and white and cream orchids, its mantle decorated with floral-filled silver and cut-glass vases, all courtesy designer Rob Smith of Events in Bloom. “During the vows, I felt closer to Alison than I ever had before,” recounts Blaine.
A classical Spanish guitarist played an acoustic set of Beatles songs and Lynn Turner of Weddings Performed officiated the ceremony.
At the reception, guests dined on chicken-fried steak and sipped champagne when they weren’t dancing the night away to music provided by DJ Caleb.
