Davique + Tareq
While they both attended Southern University in Louisiana, Davique and Tareq didn’t actually meet until they had relocated to Houston after college. Introduced by a mutual friend, they soon became smitten with each other. Then, just a couple of days before Christmas in 2016, Tareq secretly gathered about 40 of their loved ones and popped the question in Davique’s parents’ home (the bride’s father is former NFL defensive back David Dumars, and her uncle is NBA legend, Joe Dumars). Notes Davique, “Our wedding theme was simple elegance. We wanted a candlelit ceremony and reception with minimal flowers.” Planning firm Breathtaking Events delivered, designing a draped tunnel entryway to the festivities, and bringing in crystal candelabras, a monogrammed dance floor, and an oversized mirror that served as the couple’s seating chart. The couple says their most cherished wedding highlight was simple: “Seeing our guests celebrate and enjoy themselves.”
