Wedding Buzz from Weddings in Houston

With spring holidays behind us and this season’s weddings straight ahead, we’ve got lots to keep you Buzzing all week long. Like a super chic Angel Sanchez trunk show this weekend at Maison de Mode. And how about invitations so stylish they’d merit a trunk show of their own? Check out these Buzz bits, along with a profile of Minister Lynn Turner, whose mission is to give every couple the wedding ceremony of their dreams, no matter their faith (and no matter their wedding location!).

We said it before, we’ll say it again: Relax and read up, and when you’re done buzzing through the Buzz, take a moment to tell us what you think by emailing info@weddingsinhouston.com. And happy planning, Houston bride.

Bride Vi Nguyen was determined to have orchids—her father’s favorite flower—at her wedding to Chad Michael Mar. And have them she did, along with high-energy music from Extraordinary Entertainment, a fabulous four-tier cake from Cakes by Gina and the blessings of her two impeccably attired dogs, who attending the lovely event along with 200 joyful guests.

Ardell Lashes

If there’s one day you want your eyes to look their brightest, boldest best, it’s your wedding day. And one of the best ways to get your peepers to really pop for the camera, while looking beautifully natural in person, is with individual false eyelashes.

Applied by an aesthetician, salon stylist or makeup artist with ample experience and a steady hand (this is NOT a DIY beauty tip), individuals are actually small bunches of lashes (rather than individual hairs) that are attached to the lash line with waterproof eyelash glue.

A good makeup artist typically will apply eyeliner before AND after applying lashes to mask any seam where falsies are attached. By graduating short and medium-length false lashes (ultra-long fakes are probably not the best choice for brides) along the natural lash line, you end up with a look that’s feathery, flirty and elegant, rather than artificial.

Consult with your Houston beauty expert for the best lash look for your bridal eyes.

Weddings Performed, Minister Lynn Turner & Assoc.
Minister Lynn Turner

Reverend Lynn Turner had been an ordained nondenominational minister for 29 years of Weddings Performed. Why did she decide to devote herself to weddings? “I wanted to serve all of God’s children,” she says, explaining that she recognized a need for officiants to conduct ceremonies for interfaith and intercultural couples, and couples who may not belong to a particular house of worship.

Expressing her enthusiasm for weddings—“A wedding is a new beginning, a new chapter…it is the most precious time to share in someone’s life”—Minister Turner notes that her network of 18 ministers, serving families in Houston and San Antonio, makes it their mission to meet the specific needs of each wedding couple, wherever they may choose to wed.

“We want to make sure their wedding is as special and unique as the two of them,” she says, “and that’s why we go anywhere, anytime for them.”
