Your wedding cake may look like a million bucks, but if it doesn’t taste rich, it’s not fit for your fete. Check out this week’s feature story for the inside scoop from Houston’s top wedding cake bakers on today’s most fashionable wedding cake textures, flavors and frosting choices. Mmm...

Your bridesmaids and groomsmen are your best friends, your confidantes, your partners in crime. They stand beside you on the most important day of your life—and usually do it wearing something YOU picked out (and THEY paid for). Show them how much you appreciate all they do by treating them to a totally unique Vivabox. What’s Vivabox, you ask? Check out this blog post for a peek beneath the lid!

Your wedding will undoubtedly bear your personal touch. So should your wedding favors. But that doesn’t mean sending guests home with any old knick-knack stamped with the date of your blessed union. Instead, select a favor that shows creativity and playfulness, with just a touch of nostalgic whimsy. One sweet idea: a personalized candy jar like this little darling from American Bridal. It’s inexpensive, reusable and easily personalized, plus the candy you choose can be color-coordinated with your wedding palette for a wonderfully stylish tabletop addition and take-home token.

When the male guests at your wedding reception take the time to tell you it’s the best bash they’ve ever been to, you’ve done something right, says Mary Lee Hackedorn. The boys weren’t the only fans of her baseball-theme, but still fabulously elegant, wedding to Richard Barlow Wilkens IV at Minute Maid Park’s Union Station. Read about it here, and prepare to cheer.

Tiffani-Janelle, pastry chef
Cake Creations
When baking for the corporate market wasn’t quite enough for Tiffani-Janelle, the ambitious pastry artist decided to put out a few calls in the world of wedding cakes. Fortunately for Houston brides, Bobbie Taylor of Cake Creations snapped up the supremely talented chef, and Tiffani-Janelle has been turning out head-turning cakes at Taylor’s side ever since. The baker says she loves the balance of kitchen work and face-to-face customer service that defines her position: "With so many culinary jobs, you don’t ever see the client. But here, I get both. It’s very fulfilling." As for wedding guests, they’re filling up on Tiffani-Janelle’s famed wedding cakes, which, this season, are leaning more and more toward fabulous flavor combinations–chocolate-pomegranate, pina colada, mocha-marble-fudge—stacked high and all dressed up in pure white or ivory frosting.

To get the most bang for your floral buck, and make sure that you don’t end up with wilted blooms or tilted centerpieces, make sure you hire a good floral firm.
