It’s been a busy week, getting all revved up for the, soon-to-hit-newsstands, Weddings in Houston January issue. But somehow we still found plenty of time to put together some of our favorite wedding ideas for the weekly Wedding Buzz!

So relax and read up, and when you’re done buzzing through the Buzz, take a moment to tell us what you think by emailing info@weddingsinhouston.com. And happy planning, Houston bride!

Nobody loves her bling more than a Texas bride. But who can afford diamonds in today’s tough economy?

You, that’s who! Of course, you’ll have to return your rocks when you’re done—but if you’re willing, this blog post will point you to the most gorgeous rental diamonds you’ve ever been nearly blinded by.

Looking for a sweet, quirky alternative to the standard-issue ring-bearer pillow? Look to the birds! We love this darling little Bird’s Nest Ring Pillow featured on that haven-of-all-things-handmade, Etsy. Made of felted pure wool on a cushion of silk or satin, this pretty pillow features ribbons and “eggs” that can be color customized to match your palette.

Feeling crafty? You can make your own bird’s nest pillow with help from these handy instructions.

In the Spanish-style courtyard of the beautiful Instituto Allende art academy in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico, Maribel de la Garza and George Rice Farish joined 210 guests for the celebration of their blessed union.

Fortunately for us, J. Cogliandro Photography was on hand to record the revelry, covered here.

We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating, dear brides: Nobody will do more to make your day perfect than an experienced, skilled, talented, professional Houston wedding consultant. A good wedding consultant, otherwise known as a wedding planner or wedding coordinator, will help draw out your design vision and make it a reality.

A good consultant will negotiate better prices from vendors than you ever could solo, she will maintain a complete production schedule so everyone is on the same page, and she will make sure everything runs beautifully on your wedding day, so all you have to do is say, “I do.” A good consultant is your best wedding resource.

Do yourself a favor, and start your search here.

Frank Tritico
Bright Star Productions

Sure, he has the technical know-how to transform just about any room through spectacular specialty lighting. But lighting expert Frank Tritico’s most valuable asset to brides is his emotion-centered approach to wedding lighting design. “What I want to know from brides is, ‘What do you want your guests to feel? What is the emotion you’re trying to achieve?’” Once he knows his bride’s vision, Tritico can start matching hardware—LEDs, pinspots, incandescents, gobos—to heart’s desire. He can also work with the bride’s other vendors, from florist to caterer to linen supplier, to ensure that every part of the reception decor scheme is presented in its most flattering light. His advice to brides? Whatever a vendor is bringing to the table, “You have to have a connection with that person. You have to choose them because you have faith that they can relay your feelings, your message.” To find out whether you might click with the talented Tritico, first click here.
